Recently home from a three day stay in Amsterdam at Hotel Europa 92 and must say that we couldn’t have asked for more from Wim and his team.

The hotel is ideally placed with a short train ride from the airport into Amsterdam centre followed by a ride on the No: 1 tram almost to the door.

We arrived very early, didn’t expect the room to be ready and were impressed by the welcome from the person on reception. He offered to store our luggage until the room was ready and showed us a city map pointing out all of the attractions we might like to visit. Our luggage was also stored for us on the final day while we explored more of Ansterdam.

Vondelpark is just around the corner; at 120 acres is the largest park in the city, reminds me of New York’s Central Park and is full of people relaxing and enjoying themselves.

The hotel is so close to the city and canal network that we were able to spend the whole time exploring after an enjoyable breakfast. The rooms were made up and cleaned daily which is more than I can say for other hotels of a similar price.

There is a very good bike hire shop just around the corner in (7.5 euro for 3 hours or 11.5 euro for 24 hours). It’s the best way to experience Amsterdam if you can handle the traffic light system for cars, trams, people and bikes.

In short, good hotel, well positioned, staff are friendly and make every effort to create a welcoming atmosphere.

Thanks for a great time.

We returned last night from a weekend in Amsterdam and stayed at this hotel. In general, the hotel was nice and the staff friendly but my boyfriend and I are covered in bites from bed bugs! The rooms were clean and the linen was fresh but maybe new mattresses are in order. We both woke up covered in bites!

We arrived early & had to wait for the room to be prepared for us, we waited in the garden which is well landscaped & has nice modern furniture. After a cold heineken from the bar which is just inside the lobby, the owner, i'm guessing ? gave us a map & showed us where we were, how to find our way back & what we would like pointed out on it which was very helpful. We were on the 3rd floor at the front of the hotel, which has a lift. Was a bit noisy until around midnight when the tram stops as it's on a relatively busy junction but i'm used to it as i live in a town centre so was not an issue. The room's are comfortable with modern artwork, fresh towel's/ bedding daily & to a good standard of cleanliness. It is centrally located by the main museum quarter, if you fanshy a schmoke & a pancake the bulldog is just a left left out of the hotel onto leidesplein , a bit commercial, but does the job. The red light district is where you'll find the bulk of the 'coffee shops' they have a green & white sticker in the window. This is also where you'll find the lady's in the window's. this area is just off of dam square in a rogh triangle with the (achterburgwal) canal to central station. this is a short walk from the hotel, roughly 15-20 mins walk from leisplein square, which is just behind the hotel. walk up leidestraat following the tram line & you can't go far wrong. The street's in this area are like a maze so best not get too wasted until you get confident reading your map, which is essential for first time 'damers like myself. even if your sober as a judge ! There is a bike hire shop right then right again out of the hotel where you can hire a bike for 11 euro a day(+deposit), the best way to experience amsterdam in my oppinion(it's bloody mental but very enjoyable when you get the hang of it), the tram is on the doorstep to the hotel, there is a canal bus stop behind the hotel, where you can also rent a canal bike from 8 euro P/HR which i'd highly recomend, great fun. the hotel is non smoking, either variety. inside, ciggy's can be smoked in the garden but with a coffee shop less than a minute away or the magnificent vondel park 30 seconds left out of the hotel you won't find the no smoking weed in the hotel thing a problem too much if thats your bag. all in all for the everyday tourist/sightseer, or for the people who want to experience all what amsterdam has to offer but don't want to be sleeping in the thick of it, this is a great location for a hotel. if your a group of lad's going to get wasted & do a bit of window shopping, get a hotel near central station. Amsterdam is an amazing city ! so much to see & do. whatever your into, The Dam has it all in spades. it's the first time i've been & gutted i left it so long, barely even scratched the surface. so no matter where you stay or what you do, if you've not experienced it GO !!!

Room Tip: get a room at the back, you could hear a fly fart out there !

We arrived at the hotel at about 3pm to be greeted by a great guy on reception who could not have been more helpful. He showed us the city map, how to get to placed etc. He directed us to the supermarket that was about 50 yards from the hotel. talking of shops there was also a Lidl under 5 mins walk and another big supermarket 10-15 mins walks away. There was an indian restaurant two door down and round the corner more restaurants/takeaways. I had to reread the review by bravisk to make sure he was talking about the same hotel.
The room (54) was I will admit a little tired, but apart from the carpet it was clean. We had two windows, one which did look into the next door building, but there were nets and curtains. The other however looked over the garden/patio area. .
The rooms were made up and cleaned daily which is more than I can say for other hotels of a similar price we have stayed in across europe.
Breakfast was just fine, good coffee, fresh juice, toast/bread, cereal, meats and cheese .It didn't set the world on fire but it was more than adequate and what I would have expected.
On our first morning the young lady on reception was brilliant, friendly, informative and told us places to go. The greatest tip was to buy the tickets for the Van gogh museum at the hotel, yes they cost about 70c extra each but then there is no queuing. We were told it was extra and it was a very well spent 1.40 that saved us possibly 1.5 hours queuing.

Amsterdam is very expensive for food and transport so I would never use a taxi especially when the No1 Tram stops 50 yrds from the hotel and it is only 10 mins from The Leidseplein.
Trams are 2.70 for an hour, with as many hanges as you want(just remember to scan your ticket as you get on AND as you get off)
I found walking a challenge at times as there are trams, cars and cycles coming at you from all directions at speed but the city is small enough for a fairly unfit person of 47 to be able to walk everywhere.

Checkout is 11am and clearly signed in reception as are wifi prices, they will even rent you a laptop.I think 1 euro an hour is fine and again in many hotels I have stayed in I have had to pay more.

A great plus for me is that everyone speaks English, I do not speak any other language much to my shame but had absolutely no problems. Just talked in English, in fact they often started the conversation in English.

All in all yes a little tired , the carpet does need a clean but the staff make up for it I was not there to stay in the hotel I was there to see Amsterdam.

You need to take it in context, Amsterdam is expensive but this is good value for money.

We booked the hotel on the reviews on here, thinking it was near to Central and had recently been refurbished. We got the tram(1) from central station on the advice of reception and got off at overtoom, only to discover there are at least 4stops on overtoom and we were miles down the road!!! Anyway we got there eventually, the hotel is located in a nice quiet part of town, with a thai restuarant, few takeways and bike hire shops, 2mins from vondlepark ( but its actually 2.5km to walk to Central station) Yes it had been refurbished and had a lovely fresh look to the bar, terrace and dining room. But i think they had forgotten to refurbish our room!!! we had to take the tiny old lift up to the 4th floor, the walls in the corridor were all cracked, lots of fake green plants against the pink walls, lots of stained carpets and it just felt grubby. Our room was right at the top of the building ( 52 ) it was like student accomodation rather than a hotel room, bamboo blue units, a tiny tv, 2single beds ( on a really bad slope, so i slept all night thinking i was going to roll out!!), dirty splashed walls, and the last guests shampoo and soap still in the bathroom! I particulary liked the view from the window.... into somebody elses room - class!! Anyway its only a room at the end of the day and we only slept there. We didnt think we'd booked breaksfast but they just seem to lay it on and everybody gets it. good selection of meats, cheese, bread, cereals, yoghurt and fruit so we were more than happy with that. The terrace was nice to sit out in the morning and have a coffee and plan your day. Shame they wanted to charge you for the wifi too. So maybe avoid the higher rooms it sounds like some of the other rooms had been refurbished and were nicer. It was easy enough to walk into town or get the tram in and it was actually nice to be a bit further out away from the maddening crowds.

Room Tip: Not number 52, very high, has window facing directly into another room, walls like paper.

It was my first time in Amsterdam and I travelled with my best friend. We arrived at the hotel on Friday night and were greeted by a young man who wasn't very friendly. Although polite, he wasn't very warm on his welcome.
We asked for the city map and for more information about the hotel and the area, but he seemed not to have heard us. When my friend asked for a few tips about the city and places to visit, he said: Well, Amsterdam is a great city. I'm sure you'll find your way.
The room was pretty small, but the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was also fairly small, but the shower was great. There were no other amenities in the room rather than a small LCD tv. The room was recently refurbished, so it still has that smell of paint.
The internet is paid, which I found an absurd for the prices charged (EUR 1 for an hour or EUR 7 for 24h). Nowadays, most of the hotels offer complimentary wi-fi to their guests, even if available just in the lobby area.
The hotel's breakfast was average. There wasn't much to choose from. We only went once and didn't bother going back on the following day.
The hotel is located in a very quiet area, just outside the main city centre. A cab from the city centre to the hotel costs EUR 15, which I also found expensive. We had to take it twice, because it rained torrentially on our first night there.

The best thing to do is to hire a bike. There are some rental bike shops just around the corner from the hotel. That's about it. There are not many nice restaurants or corner shops where you can buy things from.

The check-out time is at 11am. Make sure that you are out of the room by 11am or else, you'll be kicked out. We weren't informed about it and at 11:30am, we had a man knocking on our door at the same time that the receptionist was calling on the phone asking us to vacate the room. We were only given 10min to leave the room.

If you want to stay in a quiet area in Amsterdam and do not need any assistance with getting around or don't really feel hungry in the morning and need a massive breakfast, this is the right place for you.
I won't be going back to that hotel again due to the treatment that we received by the receptionists and the hotel location. I guess that at some places, you just don't feel very welcome.

First time in Amsterdam :-) Check in was easy receptionist very helpful.

Location fantastic lots of great bars and restaurants within five minutes walking distance

Journey to our room couldn't help but be put off by the stained carpets

Room looked okay, very basic similar to a premier inn however not the cleanest. Dirt on the floor etc Shocked at the ashtray in our room which had not been emptied from the previous tenant

However I guess you get what you pay for

Next time I would rather pay that little extra :-)
