“Great Price and Value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013

Very well located, price is a little high but worth it... you have your own private bathroom which is not common in the Netherlands... I didnt try the food but there`s a lot of pubs, rstaurants and bars very near by... no smockers room which I loved, If you smoke you cn just walk out of the building and do it... I used the parking lot with a prize redution for staying at the hotel, if you can just don`t have a car there...

The service was nice but nothing more. I was welcomed in a business like way and was told the elevator was down the hall on my right hand side but was not that easy to find. When I found the elevator it was one of the slowest I have ever seen, but it got the job done of course. What I was suprised about was not the lack og minibar, but that there was not possible to buy anything in the reception after the restaurant and bars where closed.

The room was small and a bit worn down. It looked like someone has dropped some white paint on the carpet. A little plus for the bathroom which was clean and quite modern. Biggest problem with the room was the total lack of soundproofing. There was no need to put the "Do not disturb" sign out as you could even hear the people in the hallway talking including the cleaning personnel in the morning. It is also about time to change the mattress as it was not that firm any more.

Location is very good. It is very close to Rembrandt Plein and shopping areas and the tram are stopping almost right outside the hotel. There is also a few very nice bars and clubs in the area.

If you get a good price this will be a ok hotel for a weekend trip, but note that the standard/normal price is a bit high compared to the quality. But as I said, the location is good.

Have stayed here several years ago. Staff friendly, courteous, polite and very impressive. Public areas really great, extremely clean, pleasantly decorated. Room we had was at the level of premier inn, nice and clean, not particularly luxurious but inoffensive and perfectly adequate. Areas between reception and room were slightly less worthy- perhaps a revamp is needed?
Great hotel in convenient area of Amsterdam. Concierge extremely helpful, lots of info re canal cruises etc. Hotel offers a lot and just needs a little updating to be really great.

Centrally located by the Amstel canal, this is the third time I have stayed here, twice this year.Staff courteous and helpful.Got a fee upgrade this time to room with a canal view.Rooms clean, although I did notice comments about 'tired' carpets'.excellent location by Rembrandt Square, most major tourist sights are walkable.Piano bar next door open until 5am if you fancy a late one.

Room Tip: Reserve a canal view room

Carpets in room need a good shampoo otherwise a good clean hotel with comfy beds. Nice location on a canal-side. Rooms at back very quiet. Couple of nice pubs at the corner. Handy for trams , walk-able to lots of attractions. Plenty for breakfast. Minus point for pay to view TV , expensive. Staff attentive and multi-lingual of course.

This hotel needs to get its act together. Just one of the following things would have been bad enough, but all of them together was unacceptable for a hotel with a four star rating:

1. Glass bathroom doors with gaps around all sides. In addition to no privacy, the room is always damp.
2. Stained carpets that also did not appear to have been vacuumed prior to our arrival. Several other guests during our stay and several other reviewers noted the same.
3. Moldy shower. On one end, the grout was white. On the other, it was black. Yuck. The tub and shower door crevices were also moldy.
4. This is a minor quibble, but the television had few channels and poor reception.
5. Like the carpet and bathroom, the curtains were visibly dirty, and the windows in need of a scrub, particularly at the corners.

The beds were comfy, and the location is good, but I was glad I had my flip-flops.

This is about a 15 minute walk from central station (or catch the no. 4 tram to the back of the hotel in Rembrandtplein. Once at the hotel it's well located to access both the traditional tourist sights around the Dam and Red Light District but also allows exploring a little further afield. We didn't take breakfast at the hotel (a bit expensive) but found a good cafe just off Rembrandtplein for panini plus coffee start to the day instead. And there are always places to grab breakfast wherever you go. Rooms are comfortable (pretty reasonable size for a twin room) but we had to log a 'running out of toilet paper and hand soap' with Reception on the 2nd (of 3) nights. Overall I'd give this a 3.5 stars (not having to contact reception would have given this 4 stars) but Tripadvisor doesn't do halves!

Room Tip: We had a room at the back - very quiet! And make sure you open the window at night - the rooms get a...
