We got a calm room looking out to a quiet backyard, assuming we'd get all the sleep we needed. The room was small but comfy, beds were awesome! Nice and clean room. The staff was helpful and friendly, The breakfast was good, but expensive (15 euros prepaid), but definitely worth it though. For shopping and nightlife, this hotel was perfectly situated, and we walked all around town from here. Short way to the museums as well. Some noise from the corridors at night, and the safe didn't function properly, but we felt safe and happy at this hotel. I would defintely travel back to this hotel whenever returning to Amsterdam.

I stayed in this hotel for one week with my wife, check-in was quiet slow as we arrived too early, staff was helpful and we got the room in the morning.
I paid breakfast for a week upon check-in but seemed like there was a lack of communication between staff so for couple of days in the morning a staff told me that I am not on the list, but that shorted out pretty quick.
Close to many tourist objects and attraction. It's a great location to get nice pictures if you were a photographer.
The guy who cleaned our room was great and did a good job.
On the check-out time, I wanted to put my luggage in storage so I can get breakfast outside, because the breakfast is monotonous.
The guy in front office desk took ages to settle the bill, again another lack of communication among staff that led to unpleasant time consuming.
The GRO or maybe a bell boy who taking care of my luggage seemed to be got a Kung Fu training with a Wild Wild West attitude before working in a hospitality industry, he simply kick my luggage in such a careless way and show no respect with a lame joke.
That drops this hotel to average, just one guy attitude.

Arrived at the Eden Hotel and received a less than warm welcome from the receptionist. We had booked a twin 'Leisure' room through Low Cost holidays but were informed the hotel does not have 'Leisure' rooms, only 'Standard' and 'Executive' and were given a key to a 'Standard' room. The room was, however, a double so we returned to reception and asked to be moved to a twin. We also advised the receptionist that, at the point of booking, we had paid more to have a room with tea and coffee making facilities, the frosty receptionist informed us, again, that they had no 'Leisure' rooms, and gave us a key to another 'Standard' room. This time it was twin but was tiny, looked straight into a brick wall and the shelf in the cupboard collapsed under the weight of one jumper.
Back to reception but this time we were seen by a much nicer receptionist and by this time we had been on the phone to Low Cost holidays who had confirmed that we had, in fact, paid for the superior room and they would contact the hotel to confirm this. The receptionist agreed to 'upgrade' us at the cost of 10 euros per night as opposed to 20 euros which we accpeted and just hoped Low Cost would sort it out so no further payment would be required.

Guess what, room three was much better, a nice view of the canal, good sized bathroom with a bath and shower, tea and coffee making facilities and towelling robes, only drawback, the two beds were made up as a double. Back to reception, AGAIN, to ask this time if the beds might be moved apart and two single quilts supplied. Oh no, the less than friendly receptionist was back, clearly annoyed that we had been given an Exeuctive room and said we couldn't have that room because it was a double and we would be moved, AGAIN! At this point we had lost so much time on a short break we were completely fed up and said we were happy with the room, just wanted the beds separated so we didn't need to move again. We were firmly informed we could go out, leave our luggage in the room and the Concierge would move us.
Returning that evening, we had indeed been moved but to a very much smaller room, with twin beds still pushed together but with single quilts, a tiny bathroom with a shower and no bath and no robes but at least it did have tea and coffee making facilities. By this time, we were so tired we decided to stay put but registered our dissatisfaction on checking out.
On leaving, we spoke to the Duty Manager and I asked if both of the final two rooms were given were considered 'Executive' when they were clearly of such a different standard. She confirmed that they had some smaller 'Executive' rooms but I don't think they come at a smaller price.
I would not stay there again which is a shame because the location is good, very close to the Hermitage and Rembrandt Square but some training is required for the reception staff to deal with issues in an appropriate manner.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room with a view of the Canal in the newer part of the building.

Stayed at this hotel recently for a weekend break.
The reception staff and breakfast staff were really moody, definitely could of had a smile of their faces now and then . Very discouraging when approaching them. Concierge although was really helpful and friendly, helped us with tickets for attractions, etc.
The hotel is in a lovely location, not a far walk into Dam Square and the Red Light District. Perfect for couples!
Hotel rooms are clean, basic and also really small.
Wouldn't return to this hotel, but was just okay for a city break.

Stayed here for a hen weekend and was slightly nervous after reading some of the reviews. However this hotel is stylish, clean and extremely good value for money.

The rooms we had were on the 4th floor and were big enough for our needs, mirror shower and really comfortable beds.

We had a slight canal view and were impressed with the cleanliness.

If you want central to renaissance square you can't beat this hotel, its on the doorstep to clubs, restaurants, And all the local attractions. Trams, cabs and signposts are everywhere.

Breakfast was buffet and was open till 11am - result when we weren't coming in till 4am in the mornings. It was tasty and lots of things to choose from.

Free wifi in reception which was great.

All In all a fantastic hotel, and without a doubt will be returning with the hubby in the very near future.
