Wonderful stay at Raddison. Hotel was very well located and on a relatively quiet street. Staff was very helpful. Make sure to stop for a drink at the bar. It's charming and the bartenders are very friendly. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious and well appointed. If you are a huge fan of airconditioning you may be disappointed. It was explained that the hotel has more of an air exchange system than air conditioning. Evenings in Amsterdam are not very warm though. I highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel was fine, room was a bit dark, and the place felt a bit old. The breakfast was €25, which we refused to play (considering you can get an Irish Breakfast for €5 to €7 elsewhere). Plus the internet in the place is like €7 for 15mins which is also a rip off. Saying that, we didnt spend much time in the hotel. But we loved the location. Bout 5 mins to Dam Square and 5 mins to Rembrandt Square which was another good place for food and drink. It was also like five mins from the Red Light District, if thats what your there for!

The hotel itself is in a nice spot, close to the hustle and bustle of the red light district but just set back enough to avoid the crowds. The Rijksmusuem is walking distance if like me you don't mind walking for 20mins or so. The location worked really well for us and can't I can't fault that.
The rest of the hotel was distintcly bland. The room was quite dark and tired, the bathroom had underfloor heating except for the few key tiles just by the sink which meant cold feet when brushing your teeth. The shower was ok, but the hairdryer was pathetic, which is a let down for a female traveller. We didn't have breakfast as there are loads of places to grab food nearyb, so can't comment on that.
Overall we had no problems with the hotel, but we were glad we didn't have to spend too much time there.

Hi,
This is not my first stay in this hotel and I do generally like it, the facilties and quality of furnishing is very high. The beds are fantastic and give me a great nights sleep.

However, I am unable to make this my preferred hotel for Amsterdam because of the check in and out process. This is often long and overly protracted. The staff are well training in what to say, but do not seem to take any notice of queues building up.

The open layout of the hotel, does not help, often you see staff talking to each other when there are space for them to be working on the counter, relieving the queue size at checkin.

Other hotels manage this much better, so we know it is possible - it just takes some care.

As check in and check out are the first and last impressions you get - it would be advisable to make this efficient rather than blaming the number of customers as the reason why it is inefficient.

Otherwise, a great hotel, in a great location.

We stayed here as a family for four nights. The location is excellent for accessing tourist Amsterdam: many sights within walking distance. Our rooms (business class) were clean and spacious but,k we felt they had a tired 1980s feel. Free wi-fi is handy. The bathrooms were very, very small and the televisions very dated. Housekeeping were sparing with shower gels: these were only repleted on 2 of the 4 nights. For two nights there was a stale smell from the bathroom drain which the hotel did solve. The bar only opens at 5 p.m. (not ideal on a weekend break). Perhaps the most annoying thing was the grumpy attitude of a few of the staff who, in my opinion, badly let down the friendly ones. The concierge service tried to be helpful but information supplied on the two nights we asked for it about local eateries was annoyingly inaccurate. The first night we asked we spent a lot of time looking for a recommended restaurant that had changed its name some time previously. The second night we were sent on a wild goose chase looking for a restaurant which was, in fact, at a different location to that given to us. These things were all mentioned at checkout and I was promised an email giving me the opportunity to submit comments: that email, to date, has not yet come. Next time I will stay in a different hotel in Amsterdam.
