We were on the second floor in a canal room view and at 300euros a night, I was quite disappointed with the size of the room. I have stayed in much more luxurious for the price. Our friends didn't pay extra for a canal view and got a larger room, and a larger bathroom with a bath - our room only had a shower. However, the room was nicely furnished, clean and air conditioning worked. Very comfortable bed. Nepresso coffee maker, ironing board & iron, DVD player, hairdryer, flat screen TV, safe, etc. The minibar was a bit stingy - one beer and four soft drinks. There were decanters a quarter full of whiskey, gin and cognac each, but no wine, vodka or other spirits. The breakfast is absolutely excellent - fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurts, cheese, cooked meats, bacon and sausages, a chef who cooks eggs, pancakes or omlettes to order, coffee and tea is from a machine (a bit disappointing). So while the hotel promotes its all-inclusive policy, in your room it is a bit limited. In the reception area/bar there is a "help yourself" bar and at 4pm/5pm on both evenings we were there, there was wine and canape sized cheese/cooked meats provided free. But it is misleading that this is "all-inclusive" in the true sense of the word - there is a free bar with some snacks. Staff were very friendly and helpful, but I agree with hutch531 - they do miss the mark on a few things, little details that would make this hotel excellent. Seating in the "Living Room" is limited and we struggled on both evenings to get seats for our party of four. The location is good for the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum, Flower market, Leidesplein for restaurants and theatres, and within strolling distance of Dam Square. It is a more upmarket area than near the Red Light district with less stag and hen parties! So overall I would say it was very good, too expensive for the size and standard of room we got, great location and I would probably stay here again, but not pay for the canal view.
