Description: The Amstel Brasserie is the little brother of restaurant La Rive and makes an excellent alternative. The menu is seasonal with simple, brasserie-style dishes. It's the ideal venue for a relaxed lunch, dinner or for a drink. Alongside a varied three-course menu for the reasonable price of € 45,00, the Brasserie menu offers seasonal dishes and classic favourites such as Caesar salad, our tender Amstel burger or beef croquettes with brioche. The Amstel Brasserie has a relaxed atmosphere, the seating is level with the river Amstel. The interior design is inspired by the continuous procession of sailing boats, water taxis and rowing boats that you'll see pass by whether you're sitting out on the terrace or indeed inside in the brasserie, where the windows give an unrestricted view of the river.

“Good food, limited menu”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2012

The food and service were excellent. It's a little quieter than you might think, so our children had to be on their best behavior, which was not so easy after a long day of sightseeing. The menu is small, so you might want to take a look at it before sitting down, to make sure there is something you'll like.

“Only restaurant available at the Amstel Intercontinental”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2012

"La Rive" restaurant in the Amstel Intercontinental closes every year in July and August for three weeks (full tourist season) and again in January.
This left us with the Amstel Bar and Brasserie as the only alternative which I found out too late has a very limited (7 starter and 6 entree menu and a 30 minute wait for a steak) both unappealing and overpriced, although the venue is pretty because as well as a nice indoor restaurant there are also tables outside right on the river with an exceptional view. You have to make reservations even if the restaurant is empty and they won't sit you unless you have a reservation even if no-one is in the restaurant, no exception for guests, I never found it to be fully occupied except for a few more guests for breakfast not surprising as the prices are extremely high and the food is uninspiring. My clients and I sat at an outside table for dinner and were enjoying the view although not the food so much when the hotel's boat moored right in front of our table with 8 people sitting in it at eye level watching us eat and spoiling the view this continued for 20 minutes while the hotel supplied trays of food and drinks to the boat, we were told it would only take 5 minutes. At this point I had to insist on being moved to another table to continue enjoying our dinner in private without waiters pushing past our table with trays loaded with food and eight bored people watching our every move as well as obstructing the view. I was hosting a business dinner and was extremely embarrassed at this fiasco. The whole dining experience at the hotel Intercontinental needs to be raised to Intercontinental standards what happened to us is ludicrous in a luxury chain hotel.

“Excellent Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2012

We enjoyed this restaurant due to the great service, very good food, and wonderful view. It's always impressive when your waiter can predict your needs and handle them without you having to ask. Excellent way to get repeat business and keep your customers happy. Nice job ! Highly recommended.

“Grand Service, Fabulous Menu, Romantic Setting!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2012

One of our favorite dining experiences in all of Europe! Elegant Bernardaud China, very attentive staff, first class cuisine. After your meal, the cheese cart is not to be missed! It offers a wide selection of Dutch and French cheeses. Ask the Sommalier to pair a wine with your dessert to complete your experience. It was very nice to see diners "dressed for dinner" as well. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
