Arrived at the hotel at 9am (5 hrs before check in) but Eduardo behind the check in desk was very helpful and checked us in immediately. As it was my birthday he also up-graded us to a suite for no extra charge! Was very impressed! Thank you so much! The room was spacious, modern and very clean. It's in a perfect location, across from the Centraal Station and canal tours pier. It's within easy walking distance of the old side, dam square and new side. After checking out the concierge locked our bags away safely so we could continue to explore the city without the hassle of lugging cases around. All staff were friendly and helpful! I would definitely stay here again!

After a delayed flight it was amazing to cross the road from the train station and your hotel be right in front of you. When trying to check in, we were informed that there were no longer any king size executive rooms (the one that we booked). I was disheartened but really pleased to hear that we'd been upgraded to a suite in the Victoria side of the hotel.

We walked in to a two storey suite, with wooden beam ceilings, and original features. It was visually stunning and a great place to walk into. Unfortunately, after trying to heat the room, the heating had broken and only freezing cold air was coming back to us. Also, the noise from the street (on 2nd floor) was so loud that I heard somebody skateboarding outside. The view overlooks Damrak, with a canal in front. However, it is also a major road with tram lines, so can be loud. This wouldn't be a problem when in bed as that is set back from the windows and on the second storey of the room. That is the trade off that you pay for having such stunning facilities in a listed building. However, due to the cold, we were moved rooms.

It was then that an executive room was found for us in the Victoria wing. It was a very average room, nice bathroom with great products, with a less noisy (4th floor) but still nice view of centraal station. Unfortunately, the room had a few little problems, we could not get internet access despite ringing reception multiple times, the battery on the card reader to open the door was low and so we could not open our door without an escort, and the bed was so tired and uncomfortable that I woke up in physical pain.

Once again, we were upgraded to a suite in the urban wing, which was the best resolution. The staff were so lovely, helpful and understanding. The room was fantastic and very modern. It was the room that is advertised for the hotel above, with a separate living room space, high ceilings, big windows, and a gorgeous bathroom with a separate standing shower and bath. The bed was huge and very comfortable and it was a pleasure to stay there. Unfortunately, we still had issues with the internet, where it wouldn't recognise our room, I feel this may have been from moving rooms so many times though. It was a little frustrating that we couldn't upgrade, however, the free wifi was enough to be able to stream on netflix, so it wasn't too bad.

All in all, we had a fantastic experience, really friendly staff who were accommodating. I would definitely stay at the hotel again, but I would choose the urban wing next time.

Room Tip: Victoria Wing has a view, which overlooks the roads with trams, taxis and bikes. I would suggest the...

We booked this hotel because it looked a high standard and in a great location. We weren't wrong. We stepped out of the train station, into the square and there it was. Friendly service on arrival, very nice room (no view, but that was ok).
We were so close to areas we wanted to visit and felt totally safe.
Relaxing bar, again with friendly service, perfect for a night cap.
Breakfast included was a bonus with lots to choose from.
The leisure club was ok, small pool, large sauna, with one small let down, no hot tub.
That said, we would definitely book again and recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for a one night holiday in Amsterdam (while enroute to another part of The Netherlands for work). I think I would have given the hotel 5 stars if not for the room being so expensive.
Nonetheless, here are my comments and observations:
Pros:
1. Awesome location, just across the road from Amsterdam Centraal train station.
2. Room is spacious (by european standards)
3. Amenities are as expected and everything I need is available.
4. Front office and concierge staff are very friendly and helpful.
5. Clean, as it should be
6. There's a frozen yoghurt and waffle shop right behind the hotel that I enjoyed very much.
7. Allowed us to check in at 9am. :-)

Cons:
1. Because of its location, many tour groups have meeting points that are right in front of the hotel. As such, it can be very crowded at the entrance most of the time.
2. Expensive, but I guess one has to pay this amount for the standard and location of the hotel.

Though I didn't use the hotel much but I really appreciated the comfortable room and location.

Don't be fooled by the exterior façade, this is not a 5* hotel. Rooms are in need of serious refreshment (let's not even talk about the bathrooms). When checking in I was given a not-for-the-claustrophobic room that did not correspond to the category of room I had booked (plus, there was a sewage smell in its bathroom). This was corrected and I was given another room. The check out took ages (three people at reception for lots of people checking out at the same time) and the service was bad, except for the friendly concierge. Wifi was sometimes slow (you have to pay extra if you want a faster connection). If this wasn't Amsterdam, where even sleeping in a hole would be expensive, I would have felt ripped off. Definitely no value for the 229eur I paid.

We stayed here recently for one week and found it to be satisfactory. The location is excellent, right across the road from Amsterdam Central railway station and definitely handy to everything. The service was fine, especially the concierge who could answer any question put to him. Unfortunately our room was not that great, small and pokey, but we are getting used to this in Europe. The decor is starting to be quite dated and we were a bit disappointed when the supplies were not replaced each day. Overall however, it was a satisfactory stay.
