Having decided on a whim to spend a long weekend in Amsterdam for the wife's birthday with nothing in place we set off having booked the crossing the night before. Whilst the wife snoozed on the ferry I found The Park Hotel on the exceedingly slow wireless connection on the ferry. Figuring at least I'd have somewhere to point the sat nav at we set off. Arrived outside the hotel and sent the wife in to check room availability fully expecting to be disappointed. We weren't :-) From the time we checked in until the time we left the staff were polite and helpful. The room we asked for wasn't available so we were gifted a free upgrade. The executive room was more than adequate for our long weekend. Special mention must be given to the 'jensen' original zone' bed and the bedding which I must say was a distraction when sightseeing as all I could think of was sinking into that superb bed!!!! That said I'd probably drive to Amsterdam just to sink in that mattress again :-) The location was ideal to strike out to see Amsterdam with canal boat trips across the road and bike hire just a little farther. Of course it was possible to book everything via the concierge service but we decided, as per normal, to do 'our own thing'.
One handy point, the front desk do try to charge for internet access in the rooms. We found they would give a free card with access code if you said you were using it in the lobby. These ranged from an hour to 24 hours access. These worked just fine in the room too.
The only one downside, probably due to the shortage of parking in Amsterdam, was the cost of parking in the hotel's garage. At 59 euros a day it was a little extreme but once agreed to the parking was a relief. One could spend hours trying to find a place to park only to have to pay around 34 euros a day anyway.
In conclusion a great place to stay and visit Amsterdam from. And that bed made it so much more enjoyable :-) believe me.

We were thoroughly pleased from everything down planning and arrival right through to departure for our large group.
Staff are extremely helpful and provide friendly efficient service. I would definitely recommend a visit to Park hotel.
Beautiful "living room area" in the lobby, very clean throughout the hotel, and also a fabulous restaurant. The hotel has a great central location.

Upon arrival at hotel we were very impressed with the reception & "living room" area, very well appointed. Very quick & efficient check-in. We stayed in Room 456, overlooking the canal and it was very nice with separate modern bathroom which was lovely with good over the bath shower, which was powerful & hot. Our only complaint about the room was that the door to the balcony window did not shut tight, therefore a bit of road noise during the night. Our stay was February 20th 2013 & we did not experience any testing of fire alarms so not sure what date in Feb the previous feedback from Marc C relates to. Now to the best part - the breakfast was fab. Buffet style but plenty to choose from, fresh fruit & yoghurt, cereal, bacon, sausage, eggs etc, ham, cheese, (so many varieties), fish, salads, loads of different fruit juices & sparkling wine!!! A special mention to all staff, from the Concierge to the housekeeping staff who were extremely polite & professional at all times. Great location. Would we stay here again? A BIG YES

From check in to checking out, a great experience. Staff were friendly, informed and more than helpful. Room was great, a little small but fine for a few nights. Perfectly clean. Bar and restaurant equally good and great atmosphere. Stayed in an executive room, great view of the canals, slight noise but that's expected from the road. Momo restaurant and bar in particular was perfect - great cocktails served by attentive bar staff. Do think wifi should be free though thats my only gripe, Loved it, first time at this hotel after staying at many nearby. Will definitely be back and can't wait!

Room Tip: If you want quiet ask for a back room. Executive rooms are better than superior because of the separ...

This hotel is well positioned, close to the canals, bars, restaurants and trams. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The lobby and lounge area is very modern and welcoming, making it ideal for meeting friends and having a coffee before or after exploring Amsterdam. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with a spacious ensuite. Having said this, some of the rooms come with a bathroom that is akin to a see through walk in ward robe so beware, if you are going away for a romantic weekend the see through partition to the wet room leaves nothing to the imagination. Fortunately there is a shower curtain which can be drawn. I wouldn't let this stop you from staying here though. I'd go back again tomorrow.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view and check out the bathroom facilities first.

This was our second visit, but there was too many testing of the fire alarm at 9am this time around. Not once, but all 4 mornings when we were there. To add to this, on the last two days the elevators did not work. This also meant that the staff were reluctant to do room service. We informed the reception, but they said that the works were essential. We were offered a free coffee. Not very good service when you consider that we spent over £1,000 in 4 days at the hotel alone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking the Hard Rock Cafe or you will be given a room facing the back of the bu...
