“Nice hotel in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2010

This hotel is in an amazing location, central to practically everything in the city. I walked everywhere except to and from the airport!

The hotel is presented nicely and the rooms are what were expected. The staff were fiendly and helpful. I didn't eat in the restaurant but it looked nice. The bar area was a bit of a dissapointment as it closed early. Another upset was the fact that the hotel advertised a spa area which they don't have! There is a gym though.

My booking didnt include breakfast which I was pleased about as I managed to find a couple of gorgeous little cafes just around the corner.

I stayed at the Renaissance Amsterdam September end.We were expecting Marriott quality but were quite disappointed as the amount they charged was quite steep considering it was a business hotel.
The staff was not flexible even after we admitted we committed a mistake and only waived off a fine after we apologized and created a stink about it.
We did have a good time as there were many of us and were a bit loud. That did not go down well with the atmosphere of the hotel.
Beside this there was no steam, sauna or a pool. all business hotels these days have such amenities especially considering the price they charge.
The rooms are small. The only plus point is that the sleep quality is good and the location is great.

An easy 10 minute walk from AMS Centraal Station on a quiet street. We arrived mid-morning after an overnight flight. CS is a quick 20 minute train ride from Schipol airport.

Checked our bags with the bell captain & the front desk offered up a pass to the executive lounge as our room wasn't available yet (wasn't expecting it to be given our early arrival.)

We enjoyed continental breakfast and happy hour in the exec. lounge. Not lavish, but good quality and good selection.

Our room was clean, quiet, & comfortable, typical EU-sized.

A good location for train access, as well as exploring central AMS.

Everything was perfect! The only thing that was a minus was charging the internet wifi!

We love this hotel. Check-in staff are charming and helpful - look out for the lovely girl from Calgary who now loves in Amsterdam. Room is average size, a little small to my curvy lady taste but very nice. Bathrooms are clean and modern. Bar / lounge area is a cozy place to have a drink after a hard day of shopping and sightseeing. Great stores around this area and fantastic places to eat. Skip all the crappy hotels in Amsterdam and stay here ! In not, stay at the Crowne Plaza - they were full so we had to change hotels.

Our only gripe is this - you get stung by the internet costs. If you are using two laptops in one hotel room which as you do when you need to work / keep in touch expect to get charged for each computer. Pretty brutal when the cost is 20 euros a pop !

We've stayed @ this hotel 4 times now, first in 2007 and most recently in August of this year. In 2007 we had a renovated deluxe room and an attic/non-renovated room with the rooftop views commented on in another review here. Both rooms were very nice, clean and snuggly. On our recent stay we had newly renovated rooms both times and had a wonderful visit. Our only complaint is the VERY EXPENSIVE buffet breakfast. We really don't get it as in the evening the same restaurant has very competitive prices but the breakfast - OUCH! Great choice for a well located hotel in Amsterdam!

I have booked this Hotel based on this site's reviews and I have to agree with all comments that noted the great location. It is located in a quiet street directly beside one of the main "Grachten" and is a great start to explore Amsterdam by bike or on foot.

We booked one of the offers that included the Full American Breakfast and was 199EUR per night. Amsterdam is a little more expensive for Hotels in general but for us this price was good value for money. The rooms where not too small, good size for a weekend-stay, clean, nicely designed, bathroom spotless and all necessary items available - toilettries and hairdryer. The only thing I didn't like about the room was that it had only one rather small window and therefore it was a bit dark even with opened curtains (that's 0,5 star minus). The Full American Breakfast Buffet offered everything one could ask for, the logistics could be improved, we had several empty tables but the dishes had not cleaned away and so we had to wait for a table to become available (that's the other 0,5 star minus). If the Breakfast-Buffet is not included in the Room charge, it is 29,90EUR per person.
The Restaurant in the hotel - this is where the Breakfast Buffet is served as well - is offering a very nice selection of food and an Anti-Pasti-Buffet, Hotel guests get 15% discount on the meals. We had dinner and the food was very tasty and with fresh ingridients - again, prices are good value for money, especially with the discount.

The service of the hotel was very friendly and attentive, we had our own bicycles with us and where immidiately told to put them togeter with the hotel-owned bicycles so they would be supervised. We asked for feather-free bedding in our reservation which was overlooked in our room, we got an apology and a free bottle of white wine and snacks to compensate for this.

All in all we felt very good with this hotel and would choose it again for another visit to Amsterdam!
