“Fairly Expensive, but location is great”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

Spent 3 nights here in late June. Its hard to beat the location. Can walk or take the trolley anywhere and there is no need for a car. The main train station is just around the corner, lots of good places to eat within easy walking distance. The hotel itself is a fairly standard Marriott property. Its neat and clean, with a very friendly staff who are more than willing to help in any way. Not all the rooms face out, so if a view is important be sure and ask for one. The rooms are large by European standards and if you have children most can accommodate, which can be an issue in some locations.

Comparatively speaking, its a rather expensive property, but most major hotels in large cities are pricey. There are cheaper locations rather close that are nice, (for example The Convent), but all are more along the European style (smaller rooms etc). This is a good choice if you are looking for something a little more western.

The Concierge lounge was a nice size and had a good selection for both morning and evening, however at least while I was there they kept running out of things. They seemed a little understaffed.

Would I stay here again? Most likely yes. If you are someone who likes Marriott's, it is worth noting that the main Amsterdam Marriott is more central to the Museum district (Rijks, Van Gogh etc) and the sites in that area such as Heineken experience and the Taste of Bols. You can get there from the Renaissance but its a very long walk and its advisable to take the Trolley. Depends on what your desires are and what you would like to be close to.

Beautiful Hotel. Great service, friendly staff. The food is top-notch. Comfortable, luxurious rooms and close to Central Station as well. Clean, quiet, location, location, location! My first pick when staying in Amsterdam. I've been here many times while traveling through to North Germany and have never been disappointed!

Room Tip: All the rooms are very nice. My favorite so far was overlooking the quaint streets of Amsterdam.

We spent two nights during our European family vacation trip and we really enjoyed our stay. Great location to start a walk towards the city center, plenty of restaurants and shops all around it. Reception and hotel staff very helpful, good size room and bathroom. Overall pretty clean. Breakfast was included in our rate and there was plenty to eat, great buffet with all kind of food.
I definitely recommend this hotel for a great stay in Amsterdam.

This location is wonderful for walking around, eating in small cafes, and exploring the city. Our room was quite a nice size and we had access to the concierge floor which was delightful for breakfast and cocktails. The concierge and valets provided us with some outstanding recommendations for lunch and basically the best way to get to where we were going....walking, taxi, etc. They did not have their hands out for tips every time you turned around and were quite appreciative when you did tip for hailing cabs or recommending restaurants. The bar food was enjoyable and the sidewalk café was delightful for wine and salads for lunch. We will stay there our next visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the entrance to the hotel on the third floor.

Only stayed for 2 nights with a family of four. Staff were very helpful and the hotel room was nice and clean. Hotel is only 5 mins walk from Central station and 10 mins walk from Dam square. Very convenient located. The bed was very comfy and that's exactly what we need. Nice breakfast and plenty of drinks available at the club level. Loved our stay and top of our list when we revisit Amsterdam.

A hotel with an excellent location, 10 min walk from the train station. Rooms very clean, good service, gym, the breakfast I think it was expensive 25€ when you can walk nearby and enjoy a good food and enjoy amsterdam (of course if you are not in a business trip!).
I recommend this hotel. Enjoy!
