“Great location and nice clean hotel”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

Spent a weekend with a friend. The room was of a decent size. It had free television but that's about it. Internet was not free and was quite expensive!
The service from the staff was very good and they seemed to be very helpful.
The location is great and you can easily get to most places by foot.
All in all a very good place to stay.

The hotel is a typical Marriott hotel if it comes to decoration. The lobby, lounge, bar and restaurant are pretty modern. The bedroom floors and rooms itself are a bit outdated, but clean and comfortable. The service of the staff is fine. The hotel is perfectly located. In 5 mins walk you reach the rijksmuseum, the famous PC Hooftstraat (here are the A-brand shops located), accross te street you find theatres, the leidsche square with pubs and restaurants etc. If you want to take a canal tour, it starts almost opposite of the hotel. And if you love gambling, the casino is also a 2 mins walk. The steakhouse in the Marriott serves great food. The bar is nice and offers a wide variety of drinks. If you have access to the lounge, breakfast is extensive for a lounge. And also in the evening you will find a wide range of warm an cold snacks. We will definitely stay again in this hotel.

We stay 2 nights ,family with 2 boys the location was the most important factor to choose the hotel and also been marriot gold , the executive lunch acces for two people , paid 35 eu for one the hotels was clean ,the bed comfortable, the food good, and the service very good also.
The hotel was expensive but I save with the lounge free breakfast and light appetizers at night and the convenient of location and spacious room for Europe standar . It was very easy to find , we took the bus 197 from the airport both ways 4 euros each pp that stop almost in front of the hotel.

Room Tip: 2double queens bed can accommodate 4 people

Good Marriott Hotel for exploring Amsterdam. Canal cruises a short walk away. You can walk almost anywhere worth seeing in from 5 to 15 minutes. Canal is right across the street. Many good restaurants to choose from in all price ranges within a 5 min walk from the from entrance. As always watch out for the bicycles in Amsterdam. When taking a canal cruise from near the hotel sit on the right side of the boat for the better views.

Walking access to various activities (museums, fashion district, central square, cafes, galleries, Hard Rock, canal tour boat, red light not far, central park, etc..) A little trouble hooking up to WiFi. Comfortable rooms, good shower. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for corner room facing square if you like lots of movement out your window.

after several years we decided to book Marriott Amsterdam again for a weekend trip. Since my mother and partner both celebrated their birthdays there I wrote to the hotel in advance to get nice rooms and to book a table at the hotel restaurant Midtown Grill.

As announced we arrived early (10am), so the rooms reserved for us were not ready. So the checkin lady offered us rooms with a view to the backyard instead of the view rooms. They turned out to be a good choice. Although the view is really nasty and gives views to walls and aircon units, its much more silent then the Leidsesqure view.

Hotel rooms:
are very nice, typical Marriott standard, good beds and pillows. Small bathrooms but all amenities there, robes and slippers have to ordered. Room service has to improve a bit since the glass trays above the bar holding glasses were really dusty.

Food:
We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant every day and dinner once and really loved it, great food and service. World Class Steaks.

Staff:
Check-in staff was nice, although I missed congratulations when two people having birthday the same day are checking in. Although I have to say, that at the same day a small birthday gift with a nice birthday card was delivered to the rooms.
There are two durch consierges, which are really nice and helpful. At check-uot none of them was there and two other guys (obviously non-durch) chatting in front of the entrance. After waiting for 10 minutes in front of the concierge desk one of the reception girl got them in to help with our luggage we wanted to store for the rest of the day.
I had one paper bag extra with fragile cups and I asked him ,if he can take care on this. The guy just said: "You have to carry them with you". When I told him, that I dont want to carry the bag for the entire day with me he just replied "When they break, its your own faul".

Hmm, somehow right, but I would expect in a Marriott to get this message in a more polite way

Room Tip: high floor, room to backside if you like to sleep with open windows, Leidseplein view if you prepfer...
