This hotel is a comfortable 10 minute walk from the central train station. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff are friendly and happy to help with any questions, providing maps and information. Excellent wifi available throughout the hotel.

Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of our experience in this classy, centrally situated hotel, only a short walk from the station and directly next to the Dam square. Staff were unfailingly helpful and had a well-organised and secure left luggage system (also catering for early arrivals). Breakfast was good. The room we had was small-ish but had all the amenities and there wasn't any sound leakage (which, for me, is a crucial factor in determining whether a hotel is any good).
Well done!

I stayed in Die Port van Cleve for 3 nights. Check in was easy and the staff were extremely friendly, and also knowledgable with local information. The lift is insanely slow. My room was reasonably sized, on the third floor, although the decor is quite aged and the bathroom could do with a better clean. The walls aren't super thick, so you can sometimes hear your neighbours, and you can hear the plumbing at night time. The beds are only semi-comfortable. Water pressure in the shower is not fantastic. None of these issues are enough to make me actively complain, however I do feel that the four star rating of this hotel is a bit optimistic. Three star is more realistic. All in all, for the price you pay, I probably wouldn't stay here again.

I notice that room 420 is not shown in the professional photos. We had this room for our stay in the Die Port van Cleve it was a good job we spent most of our time in the room asleep so we couldn't see how small it was - there wasn't enough room to swing the proverbial cat round - walking round the bed you had to walk sideways if one of us was sat on the bed there was no room to pass. The lighting was poor in the bathroom the mirror was in a recess over the sink and so dark, another towel rail would useful to dry the towels there was plenty of room near to the toilet to install one for the hand towels instead we had to put the towels to be changed or we would be using wet towels. Outside in the corridor there were 2 small steps which were narrow and I slipped down them on one occasion I am sure a gentle slope in there place would have been much safer.
Now for the good points the location is very good you are just off the bustle of Dam Square and everyone knows where the square is so you can't get lost. We had breakfasts in the hotel which were good there was choice of 3 cereals with yoghurt or milk and cold meats and cheese for the continentals and scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and baked beans for the rest of us.
You could finish off with toast or Dutch pancakes and Danish pastries so we had no complaints about the food. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in the surround area to choose from. We queued for just over 30mins for the Anne Frank house arrived there about 5.45pm but you have plenty of time it is open till 10.00pm at the moment.

What a beautiful hotel! A few steps away from Dam Square but quiet, luxurious with staff who were polite, helpful and very courteous. Think about this hotel if you have a small budget but grand tastes!

Surprisingly, the small size of the rooms are not worsened impression of him. the room was under the roof: the feeling that you are in the cabin of a ship. the hotel location, facilities, breakfast: beyond praise. on the face of it, the rooms have recently been renovated.ps: if you open the window, you will hear korilony from the central square

This hotel is situated behind Dam Square and a 10-15 min walk from the train station. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Our room was on the first floor at the front and despite the trams and other traffic outside we couldn't hear a sound.
The breakfast was very good with a variety of hot and cold dishes. We had no problem each morning giving our room numbers and being shown to a table but some people had to wait a long time for someone to come.
We had dinner in the hotel one evening, the food was very disappointing and very expensive and two of our group had to send food back as it was almost cold.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to friends, just don't have dinner there!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel as rooms at the back are dark and gloomy.
