“A good position and a peaceful rest”
Reviewed May 5, 2014

I loved the hotel's canal view and the position that allowed us to visit Amterdam centre by foot or by tram, that can be taken directly out of the hotel.
Room was very clean and silent, for a peaceful rest after kilometers of walk across the beautiful canals.

Good Hotel and very central. The most Museums are very close. Also Paradiso is close by. Had a nice room with view to Prinsengracht. Friendly staff. The only negative point was, there was no late check-out possible.

I stayed at the Dikker & Thijs Fenice Hotel in April while I was on a city break with my husband. The hotel is located right in the heart of the canal district of Amsterdam and it was easy to walk to most of the main sights and attractions in the city centre. Our room was very spacious and located in the eaves of the hotel with a stunning view of the canal below. The staff were helpful and courteous and I would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed here for 3 nights recently. The hotel is very centrally located, on the corner of Leidsestraat and Prinzengracht, so is close to the Leidseplein bus stop for the 197 bus to and from Schipol. The museum area, Vondelpark and lots of restaurants are also very close by. The hotel has an old-world charm about it, but our room was modern and absolutely excellent, quite large and with all expected facilities, including free wi-fi. Breakfast is available at a charge, or if you prefer you could buy croissants or pastries at the bakers across the road or have breakfast at any of the many excellent coffee shops Amsterdam has to offer. The only downside is that there is a little noise from the trams and from passing people, but that all quietens down overnight. Overall, a very good base from which to explore Amsterdam.

Room Tip: As high as possible, away from the street noise.

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times, since we always try to use Amsterdam as a starting point for our European holidays.

At the start there was not much more than the location and our (randomly chosen) corner room to recommend this hotel; but over the years the staff has been upgraded from surly to helpful and friendly, and the restaurant from boarding-house style to modern and stylish.

The breakfast provided though is still fairly basic.

I stayed here on a business trip recently and it is fantastic! The staff were friendly and the hotel itself is central, spacious, safe and easily accessible from the airport.

The room (as you can see from the picture) was spotless, huge, had lovely roof views. It was a little chilly and there was no heating to speak of, just cold air conditioning. And, rather than a double bed, there were 2 twin beds pushed together... which I found a bit strange. These are not big deals though.

There was an (expensive) minibar in the room and a lots of information/a good list of services.

The one thing I couldn't get over was the price. I'm not sure I could afford to stay here again... but if you can, go for it!
