Fantastic view! Rooms were wonderful... A little noisy, in the heart of Amsterdam.

Opened my window to an evening concert in the park below. Enjoyed outside cafe style dining. Walkable to everything you want to see & do.

Would definitely stay again, but be prepared to shell out 150+ Euros per night, but not expensive for a luxury suite in Amsterdam.

Free internet in lobby

Room Tip: Overlooking the park, a bit noisy but worth it

Unpleasant stuff .. very rude especially at the reception, with the hotel manager Mrs. Calissa .. the breakfast away from high category bufette in N.H. HOTELS line.

Just got back from a two night stay at the Schiller. I have mixed feelings about this hotel. First the positives: 1) Location, location, location!! It is situated on a beautiful city square that leaves you within walking distance of many of the main attractions in Amsterdam - Anne Frank house (10-15 minute walk); Heineken tour (15 minute walk); Red light district (10-15 minute walk); the flower market (5 minute walk). Just bring your walking shoes and you can cover a lot of ground and sights out of this hotel - no need to even jump on the trams which are also conveniently located in the square. 2) They have a very good brasserie restaurant and a separate bar also attched to the hotel. 3) Hotel was booked a t a good price point considering it's central location.

The negatives: 1) The hotel does not have air conditioning. This in itself is not an issue BUT if you are on the front side of the hotel (which is where the noise is) it could be problematic. I also noticed that the room did not have a thermostat SO I would imagine that in the winter you have very little control of the radiators in the room. 2) I asked for a "quiet" room and found myself on the 5th floor in a very small and dated room - carpeting looked like it had been in place for 50 years - not appealing at all. However - it was QUIET and I did get a good night's sleep. 3) requested a wake up call on both mornings of my stay and received NONE!! Thankfully I woke up on my own and was not late for either my meeting on the first day or my flight back home on the second day. This could have been disastrous!!

Would I stay here again or recommend this hotel? Probably not BUT if you are looking for location and understand the other downsides, the Schiller will be adequate.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the backside of the hotel

First off- great location. We were in Amsterdam and didn't need to take a tram once- we just walked everywhere!

The staff were friendly and welcoming and managed to overcome our first issue, where my friend had only been given a single rather than a double room, quickly and efficiently.

My room (121) was clean, modern and spacious- it made a good first impression apart from the rather poor view. Unfortunately I got an appalling nights sleep the first night as the club next door seemed to be piping their bass heavy techno music directly into my room. I'm not overly fussy with noise but this was at a level where my trusty ear plugs plus noise cancelling headphones combo was barely touching it. When I complained on the second night I got moved to a much smaller but much quieter room on the 5th floor. Again, I can't fault the service but I still struggle to imagine how anyone in that room could put up with it, unless they one of the people that were actually in the club (and from looking in the window I definitely wouldn't want to be one of those people).

Overall though, no regrets about our choice and would recommend it if, like us, location is one of the driving factors in your decision.

Great location; away from main strip but in middle of city center so easy walking distance to most locations. Hotel was clean and smart. All staff were really helpful. Pillow service is something new, ability to pick the pillow of your choice from a selection totally free. Just watch out for rooms near the fire escape, could be disturbed by noise from clubs along the same street if they decided to pump up the volume.

Nice hotel and friendly staff. Had a problem with our shower head and lamps which were fixed promptly after mentioning to reception. Great location near the city center on a vibrant square.
The only issue was the noise at night, we were on the side facing the square (not sure how loud it is on the other side of the hotel) As the weather was hot (and no AC in the room) we needed to have the window open slightly, so the noise was a bit of an issue. That said, still had a good night's sleep.

The hotel is located in the best area, between red light district and jordaan shopping area. In addition, there are a lot of restaurants within 5 minutes walking. I recommend you to buy the museums tickets in the hotel lobby to avoid long qeues. However, the outside rooms, which have beAutiful views of the Rembrandt Square, are noisy. In addition, you must pay if you need internet in your room.
