“A very pleasant stay”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

Everything happened as almost was expected. Very attentive and helpful staff, clean and nice rooms and recreations, good enough breakfast. The room sizes are surprizingly smaller even than being expected but this is understandible due to top location right in the center of old town. Sincere thanks to all staff for a pleasant staying! Hope to be back soon.

We liked the Hotel Estherea very much. It is well run, the breakfasts are very good, it is beautifully decorated and is within walking distance of everything. We had room 207 which although small had a lovely view of the canal and two easy chairs from which to admire it or for reading.

Our only gripes were that there was no good reading light near the easy chairs and also the walls are very thin, so as one of the occupants of room 206 next door had a loud voice, this was rather a nuisance.

We were allocated Room 206 which was a very dark room with no natural light. We were unable to change it as the hotel seemed full of Americans and Japanese. If this room had been allocated to an American couple - they would have moved hotels. Alright for 1 night but NOT 5. Very disappointed. On checking out we were assured we would get an upgrade the next time we came!!! Bit late I'm afraid a refund would be nice!

I wish every city had a hotel like Estherea!!!!! I LOVE IT! It has character, beauty, it's an old canal house, nice decor, very clean, quiet even though its so close to all the action, upscale clientele, family oriented, best breakfast EVER!!!!!!! The staff is amazing! The free coffee 24/7 is a bonus coz who wants to sleep in Amsterdam?!?!??!?!? NOT ME! This was our second time and I can't wait till next year! We were there for New Years and this is how amazing this hotel is..... they give you free sparkling wine to go for New Years Eve! Don't look any further, this hotel has it all!!!! It should be number 1 for Amsterdam!

When planning our African Safari, we decided to stay two days in Amsterdam during our return back since we had a layover. We selected the hotel since the location put us within walking distance of the city attractions. We truly got more than our money's worth with the hotel. The room had a view of the canal which was nice to see in the morning. The room itself was small but really nice although was not crazy about the bed. We booked a single with king size bed and they just put two full size bed together but we put up with it because we were only in town for two nights. Decor of the place was really nice; made us feel like we were in a very high end hotel. Definitely would stay there again.

On our second visit to the Estherea, we found it even more charming and accommodating than out first visit. We arrived on St. Nicholas day, and were not in our room 5 minutes when we had a knock on the door. Opening it we were greeted by an elf(bellman) who presented us with a canvas bag full of goodies(candies and cookies), which were a real treat!!! The staff again was superb from the arriving bellman to reception, to maid service , barman, and the price was very reasonable. The central location on one of the canals is convenient, and easy to get to any point in the city.

Room Tip: Do not believe there is a bad room location in the hotel.
