“Well Located Boutique Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

It is a quirky boutique hotel centrally located for sightseeing alongside the Singel Canal. The best rooms without a doubt are those overlooking the canal. The room we occupied was opulently appointed but the bathroom linen was not up to standard for a Four Star hotel.
The reception area, the lounges and the breakfast room were all pleasant and elaborately appointed.Coffee, tea, biscuits, small cakes and sweets were available free at all times.
The reception staff were pleasant and helpful. The morning porter, barman, bar breakfast person went out of his way to be helpful and was to be commended.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the canal have the best view and are quieter.

Our second visit to this hotel, and another very good stay. A small traditional hotel which is well run, by friendly, helpful staff and is in an excellent location on the Singel canal.
We were pleased to find our standard room had been upgraded to a deluxe room with a canal view and it was noticeably bigger than the room we had last time. I would still not call it a big room, but this is Amsterdam. It was very comfortable and was let down only by the very small bathroom, about as small as it could get and still be able to use it!
We did not eat in the hotel so I cannot comment on the food, but the bar is good and now sports a full-time barman, which is an improvement from last year when the bar frequently seemed to be unattended.

I recently stayed at Hotel Estherea and could not be happier with my experience. The hotel is beautifully decorated; I really loved the lounging areas in and around the lobby. The staff was very honest and helpful as well. Will definitely stay here again!

It was challenging finding a centrally located hotel during a recent convention, but luckily the Hotel Estherea had some rooms. The location is great, not far from Central Station, Anne Frank House, and just on the edge of the 9-streets shopping area. It's a couple of blocks from a supermarket, and many restaurants.
The decor is very European old school, including a chandelier over the bed. The bathroom was rather spacious and modern, with separate shower and tub. However my one issue was having the toilet in a separate closet off the bedroom that was very small (not good if claustrophobic).
Free internet by booking directly with the hotel seemed to work well. The breakfast buffet was fine. The desk staff seemed a bit busy at times, and didn't rise to the level of true concierge service. When asking for restaurant recommendations, we were directed to just go around the block to the strip of restaurants and browse for something.
In the end, however, it was a high-end European luxury hotel (not a modern new construction chain), in a great location.

I've been lucky enough to stay at at Hotel Estherea a number of times and I am always struck by the exceptionally warm service, beautiful rooms and the handy location which is only 7 minutes walk from the train station.

it is a family run hotel and it's evident from the little touches of fresh baked cookies and unlimited teas and coffees to the individuality of the rooms and furnishings.I've been upgraded twice and they remember me, my preferences and I have been know to change my meeting dates to ensure that I'm able to stay with them as it's the highlight of my trip. As someone who travels alone for work often, they really do an exceptional job.

Lovely boutique hotel, with fantastic colourful bar and lounge. We had a small room with canal views. Generous choice for breakfast plus good coffee free all day. Lollies in room too. Central to Ann Frank, red light district and canal tours. The staff were great too. Recommend.
