At Room 515 we had everything. Big room, spacious bathroom and best location.
Food at breakfast was very good including room service.

It's a 5 min to the Dam square, and you can walk to everywhere in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: High floor, my room 515 was great and quite.

Unexpectedly in Amsterdam for the night in mid November, I booked the Estherea Hotel.
Its location, price and good reviews were the deciding factors.
We were welcomed very warmly, given a 'nice, large room' and told about the various options for dining at the late hour we arrived.
The staff are very amiable and efficient and the decor was so ornate and welcoming, that it was a true pleasure just sitting in the large, beautiful lounge area and drinking a complimentary coffee.
We look forward to returning for a longer stay..as I can't imagine a better location from which to enjoy the best of Amsterdam or to retreat to for a relaxing, restful sleep. Fabulous!!

Room Tip: Perhaps off the main road on a weekend.

This was our second trip at the Estherea, we spent the last night of our honeymoon there. Joeey was very helpful prior to our departure as I checked out various sites for the best deal. He matched that deal and gave us a room upgrade, which had a view of the canal. Room 212 small but very nice. Be aware that the queen size bed is actually two beds out together. I have to remember to ask if there is another option next time ... Lets face it, there probably is. If you care, just make sure you ask when you make a reservation.

The hotel is a 20 min walk from the train station, which is in turn a 20 min train ride from the airport. We did it that way as we only had a carry on bag each. Great view of the Silgel canal.

It's a beautiful property, with the steep stairs that are typical in Amsterdam. There are elevators tho. As my wife is a platinum member at Mariott as a result of work travel, we tend to use these when we travel abroad too. This hotel is a great departure from the chains and a great example of European style and service.

It's a 5 min walk to the Dam square, and you can walk everywhere in Amsterdam. The trams are also very efficient and frequent. Beware of the bikers!!!!

We love this place, we'll be back.

I chose this hotel for a romantic break for my husband and I. We're past the "getting really drunk and smoking endless spliffs" stage, so we chose somewhere a little nicer than the usual 4-5* chain hotels we usually go for. We arrived at Hotel Estherea and had a very quick and helpful check in. We were given maps and helpful info to take away. The reception area is stunning, very warm and cosy, perfect for this time of year, the Christmas tree was even up. We were then taken to our room and shown around. Our room is not huge, but it is beautifully decorated and fitted, and the bed is ridiculously comfortable!! We only booked a standard room as we are staying 4 nights, but I was very pleasantly surprised!! The bathroom has everything you need and is also nicely fitted.
We booked room only as we like to go out to a coffee shop for breakfast, so I cannot comment on breakfasts. You can however, help yourself to tea, coffee and hot chocolate from the reception all day and they also leave biscuits and nibbles for you. It's a small but really nice touch. The staff are very helpful and very friendly.
Amsterdam is not a huge city so I found the location to be perfect! It's close enough to the touristy side of Amsterdam (Damrak, Red Light District etc), but then it's also very close and walking distance from the Leidsestraat which is a really lovely shopping precinct with nice boutiques and shops, and of course Leidseplien square which is looking beautiful at this time of year.Down the side streets you will find some lovely restaurants and bars (would recommend Bo Cinq for a cheeky cocktail or nightcap), much nicer and cheaper than those you will find on the Damrak or red light district.
I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here next time I visit. So much nicer and more personal than the characterless chain hotels us Brits usually go for!

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the courtyard, rather than the canal, but this didn't detract at all f...

The hotel is located along the Singel and our rooms had lovely views of the canal both in the day and especially at night.

Service was good and prompt, nothing to complain of at all.

Rooms are small but very cozy and also very tastefully furnished in the typical European style which I love. The cleanliness is also above par. Sleep quality was great as there were no disturbance from the street below which we expected to be noisy but was not.

Breakfast was nice with a good selection of items.

The hotel lobby is beautifully decorated with a small bar area for drinks, a lovely library corner to unwind and relax.

In summary, it was a totally great stay and we look forward to staying in the Hotel Estherea if we were to visit Amsterdam again!

When I used to think of Amsterdam I would associate it with stag doo's and spliff. However, having been I would thoroughly recommend it to you. We went in February, and it was very very cold - the canals all frozen and heavy with snow. This all added to the beauty of the place. Im sure all of my initial misgivings are true about Amsterdam, however the Hotel Estherea is perfectly situated in the old (and best) part of town and far enough away from anything unseemly. Situated on the banks of the Singel Canal, there are boutique shops, little bars and resturants all around you - although most of them are shut until 11am so dont bother getting up too early and enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel - its very good. Our room was beautifully oppulent - felt like royalty. The rooms are not huge, but they are perfectly appointed as are the bathrooms. We would definitely visit Amsterdam again, and when we do we will return to this fantastic hotel.

A fabulously opulent room and fantastic breakfast were the highlights of my brief stay at this hotel. It is also very well located and had friendly staff. The lounge areas were very impressive too - with a nice library area, tropical fish tank and fake (TV) fire!
