Stayed at this quaint and elegant hotel over the Easter holidays. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home by very nice and efficient staff, The wonderful views of the Singel canal made up for the small size of the bedroom and bathroom. Both well kept and very clean as all common areas. Enjoyed our buffet breakfast every morning seated at a corner window watching boats sailing past. We also looked forward for an afternoon rest and the usual complementary tea coffee biscuits and cakes. We have had such a nice time in Amsterdam thanks to the weather and off course our stay at the Estherea that already we are planning our next stay there.

We recently stayed at Hotel Estherea in Amsterdam and it is an unqualified winner. The hotel is luxury wrapped in convenience and comfort and well located to major sites. Service was excellent. Would definitely stay here again and recommend hotel to all. If there were any negative, I would note the buffet breakfast, which while complete and excellent, was pricy and, we felt, should have been included in the room price. Cost is Euro 16 ($25), but I guess this did not stop many guests as breakfast seating was always crowded.

A couple of restaurants in the area are recommended. First is the Pancake Bakery, which is about a 10-15 minute walk and near the Anne Frank House, is excellent. Food is terrific, prices are reasonable, service is outstanding. An overall winner. The other restaurant is Lucius, a seafood restaurant around the corner from the hotel. Outstanding.

I agree with all the positive comments about the Estherea. It is a very comfortable hotel and the staff were extremely obliging and helpful. We enjoy city breaks but you can spend a fortune on coffees and teas over a few days so a big plus point for us was the complimentary hot drinks 24/7 and the free iced water on tap. The location is excellent, too: within walking distance of all the major sights but in a quieter spot only 10 minutes from the Damrak. Our room was comfortable with ample storage space and a fridge; the bathroom was spacious with twin sinks and the water was hot and plentiful. Highly recommended.

Beautiful hotel located on the Singel canal within walking distance of Dam square, Leidseplein, shopping, coffee shops, RLD, and restaurants. It was only a 10 minute walk from the train station to the hotel. We were there during the winter. It was nice to be greeted with free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate upon arrival. Staff was friendly. Rooms were small but nicely decorated, quiet, and romantic.

Not much to add to the other positive reviews, except to suggest that you do what we did - skip the 16 Euro breakfast, turn left out of the hotel and walk a few yards to "Broeder Bert's" cafe. It's a "greasy spoon" that does an excellent breakfast for a fraction of the price of the Estherea. Tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms would be nice, but they are available free in the lobby. That aside, couldn't fault the hotel, will go again. BTW we went in March 2010, not May, but the drop-down box didn't have that as an option.
