What an absoultle pleasure it was stopping in this grade A hotel, really couldnt fault it at all. The decor is extreemly lavish and very excessive which was much to my taste, if i wanted dowdy and bland i could stay at home. I couldnt enthuse about this place enough. we stopped for two nights over a weekend for the girlfriends birthday as a suprise and i think i surpassed myself in choice. The room i booked had the two person hot tub and garden view. it was a slight walk from the main building but this does not detract at all. I ordered the vip package which included a bottle of champers, chocolate and strawberrys for arrival. took breakfast on the first morning, again first class and a huge range of choice well worth the money. amsterdam is an excellent city, its not just about sex and drugs but thats easy found if you want it. all of the staff could not have been more helpful than they were and do the hotel proud. The hotel is only a stones throw away from the anne frank house which sets you up nicely for exploring the city.

thanks very much to the toren and all the wonderful people who work there.

This place is gorgeous, and in the best part of town. Comes highly recommended. Sebastian showed me around, took me to my room, in the annex building. The room was big, bed was enormous and all very clean and very comfortable. Sebastian made me an award winning "Sebastian cocktail" - it was lush! I only stayed one night on business, but will definitely come back for a longer visit. Thank you to the owners Eric and Petra Toren and congratulations for such a lovely hotel.

My daughter and I stayed at The Toren for 2 nights and had a wonderful stay. The staff are warm and friendly, we felt very welcomed. We had a gorgeous, cosy, yet luxurious room and I appreciated the Nespresso machine to kick start my mornings! Breakfast was delicious and we loved the fresh fruit and Dutch crepe pancakes. Thank you to all the staff at the Toren, we miss you and Amsterdam! Groetjes,Yvonne

Perhaps I am getting more picky about hotels, and I will not disagree with others' experiences of this hotel as "excellent," but I would rate it as very good, very positive, and very restful overall.

The good news: The room was an upgraded one, and definitely NOT inexpensive. I believe "upgraded" means the room is larger than many of the rooms and the bathroom is perhaps better equipped. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the room amenities standard for a higher end hotel (espresso maker, bath robes, slippers, good quality and generous amounts of shampoo, shower gel, etc.). The rooms are spotless and the linens excellent on both beds and in the bath. In addition, as many others note, the staff are amazingly friendly and oriented toward your comfort, so they will go out of their way to accommodate your every need. Very, very competent and lovely people, and important in a day and age where many hotels act as if they are doing YOU a favor by staying there.

The not so good news (but tolerable): That said, the decor of the entire hotel, which others have described as "stylish and beautifully appointed", I call "Early Bordello", and find it off-putting and just simply over the top. Flocked wall paper, velvet-type upholstery, the lavender, gold, and black color scheme, mirrors, and chandeliers contribute to that characterization. I would also mention that while the buffet breakfast is very attractive, it is really costly (around 14 EUR). Many small cafes are within 5 minutes of the hotel and you can fare much better if saving a bit is part of your travel itinerary. While the hotel can order take out food for you from any sort of restaurant you wish, be aware that their bar menu consists of a lot of frozen-type foods such as croquettes. At 9 EUR a plate, this is just not acceptable.

Overall: Amsterdam is a walking city, but be aware that if you love the museum area, this hotel is about a 30 minute combination walk and ride by tram. Not a major issue, as the trams are terrific, but besides the Anne Frank House and being on the pretty canal, you're going to be hiking to get to major sites. In summary, perfect bed, pristinely-kept rooms, and great staff, but be prepared for the decor.

My girlfriend and I stayed at The Toren for 3 days from 30th Nov to 2nd Dec 2013. I would regard the service provided at The Toren as absolutely first class - the staff were falling over themselves to help us out, from a phone call to let us know our room was ready (we arrived at 0930 - too early to check in), to taking our luggage to our room for our return, to two excellent local restaurant bookings (Bussia and De Belhammel). Beyond the great service, the location is excellent (walking distance to numerous sights and attractions) and the interior design is fantastic.

This is a truly wonderful hotel. The staff are the kindest, most helpful group of people I have ever come across, and I have stayed in many luxury hotels around the world. They are knowledgeable, friendly, patient, good natured and great fun. This makes all the difference. The hotel is so stylish, beautifully appointed and sumptuous. The breakfast is gorgeous. The beds are really comfortable and the rooms beautifully appointed. The location is just fabulous, a beautiful and peaceful canal street, with everywhere is easily accessible by foot. The Toren is truly a home from home and I cannot recommend it more highly. Finally, Kevin (the barman's) strawberry mojitos are absolutely delicious and a great way to end each day and start each night!

Room Tip: Ask for a canal view if possible, but don't worry if not, the rooms are all lovely.

We requested a romantic room, they gave us one with a spa bath in the bedroom and an attached patio! Can't top that.

This is a boutique hotel, just 15 minutes walk to Dam Square. Situated right by a beautiful canal in a calm & quiet neighbourhood. Every room is different so let them know what you are looking for & they will allocate the most appropriate one for you. Welcome note from the owner, bottle of Moet and Chandon, strawberries & chocolates awaited us on our arrival.

The staff were extremely friendly & helpful during checkin and throughout our stay. Their kitchen closes around 11:00 pm but they will gladly order in for you.

The rooms are a bit on the smaller side but you don't feel cramped. Beautifully decorated & furnished.

Its a bit expensive but certainly worth the stay.
