Amsterdam's hotels are all over-priced and over-full. The HIlton Amsterdam is no exception.

At all times of the year the staff appear to be rushed off their feet, and as a result sometimes the staff behind the desk don't seem to know what's going on.

The rooms are perfectly adequate, with the larger studio suites actually being quite nice.

The executive lounge is a highlight here, a glass box on the roof of the building with free food and drinks, looked after by very attentive staff. I understand the hotel is being extended upwards though, so this will soon be just a memory.

In summer, the outside area is great for drinks, and it's just a quick walk into downtown Amsterdam.

We booked this hotel for our 9th wedding anniversary, and arrived into amsterdam airport approx 1330 friday 12th. we booked transfers to and from the hotel via tourist information costing 24.50 euros each. they also charged 2.50 euros for a map - dont bother - hotel gave us 1 for free
It was a 15 minute drive to the hilton, and from the exterior, it looks nothing special, but as you enter you can see its full glory. A stunning entrance hall, and reception area, which was in the process of being transformed for christmas.
We were greeted at the desk by the friendliest hilton receptionist i have met, she offered us advice onwhere to visit, enquired about our journey, our children at home etc It just put a smile on our face and set the standard for our entire stay.
Our room was 519 overlooking the canal. Stunning view of the city, and a lovely room, huge bed, tv, desk and all the usual extras. extremely clean and roomy.
We ordered room service, the telephone was answered again by such a friendly chap, who after we had finished our meal, checked that we enjoyed it etc. The food by the way is tasty.
The only negative things i would say about the hotel is that the food/drinks are a little pricey.. with room service being shocking. 5 euros for a can of fanta, 9 for a small bottle of coke.
The hotel is a good 45 minute walk to the centre, only about 10 minutes from Van gogh museum. Use the conceirge to book attraction tickets as the ques are horrendous.
i loved this hotel, but would maybe consider something a little more central next time, redisson blu was ideal.
27.50 euros for 24 hours of wifi
bottle of wine in the lounge 47.50
average meal 30 euros breakfast 32 euros

This is definitely the best hilton hotel I've stayed!!

The hotel is beaaaautiful, in front of a canal, the service is amazing, the food is great (just a little pricey...) and is well located.

There's wifi in the rooms, decoration is great, had a wonderful time overthere and will be back next year! I definitely recommed!

Visited here Saturday 6th November for a one night stay. Booked on lastminute.com with their secret hotels.
The hotel is a pleasant tram ride from the centre of town...only a small walk from the tram stop.
The hotel looks like a concrete jungle on the outside...but inside is really nice!
Our room was 523 with a city view....a lovely spacious room...big bed...nice bathroom and toiletries.
The only problem we had was you could hear the humming of the lift on the opposite side of the hotel corridor throughout the night....but my earplugs helped!!!
A great check out of noon.....so the black out curtains ensured we had a long lie in!!!

Booked the hotel through Priceline and got the hotel for less than £100 per night. You could expect to pay these prices for 3 star hotels in Amsterdam. Although the hotel is located in a residential area, it’s not far from the museum tram stops. You will also be able to get a good night's sleep as you will be away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

We took a tram to the hotel which took about 10 minutes. Once we stepped off the tram which stops mid way on a bridge, we walked over the bridge to Appollolaan and turned right. Turn left and you will eventually end up at the Wyndham hotel! There is a park area in the middle with a few statues and within about 5 minutes, as long as you have not been knocked down by passing cyclists you will come across the Bilderberg Garden Hotel, and when you cross the road, the Hilton is there.

We checked in and my wife made a fuss as to how this break was a special occasion for her and that she wanted a good room. We were given the canal view rooms that I know are the ones to get. Within a few minutes of entering the hotel we were in our room. Its good sized room but you will find newer branded city hotels tend to have larger deluxe rooms. We had a big comfortable bed, loved the view of the canal and the city but the LCD tv was on the small size. The bathroom was again of a decent sized and the hotel provides you with Evelyn & Crabtree branded soap, shampoo etc.

The hotel provides you with tea and coffee facilities. As we did not have breakfast included we got our croissants etc from the bakers shop the day before and ate them in the morning with our own tea or coffee and that kept us going until lunchtime. If you wish to purchase even continental breakfast from the hotel it will set you back a rather lot of Euros.

The mini bar at the hotel is expensive; they charge over 5 Euros for a bottle of mineral water. If you step outside the hotel and turn right, walk towards the glass building situated next to the hotel and turn right again, you will again walk over a bridge and come to Emmastraat. There is another tram stop on your left there that will take you to the city. If you cross the road and walk a bit further up and you will find a general store where you can buy your own drinks, snacks etc and it will save you from paying the hotel prices.

However bearing in mind that 5 star hotels in Amsterdam are expensive and this visit was a treat for my wife, we could not complain about the hotel with the price we paid. A large room, a bit of luxury, the hotel provided a complimentary treat for my wife and we purchased our Van Gogh Museum tickets from the concierge which enabled us to skip the long lines when we got to the museum.

The service was an unexpected pleasure! We arrived with champagne and chocolates in our room and a beautiful view of the canal. Our room was close to the elevator, which my partner despises because of the noise and we heard not a peep. Great sleeping!
The concierge was extremely helpful giving us great pointers on what to see during our short stay. We had drinks in the lounge with a fireplace and view of the canal and the friendliest staff! It was hard to leave the hotel! The restaurant was also top-notch Italian food!
The location is a bit of a hike from the center of Amsterdam, but the tram is very user friendly and saved us a bunch in taxi fares. It made us feel like the locals.
The neighborhood was safe and very beautiful.
