“Hotel with a nice view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

Hotel with spacious room, and a really good bar that serves good food. Been dining there two nights in a row and I can still do more had I been staying in the hotel. I love the small terrace by the river and where you can take a drink outside during a good day. The hotel also comes with a small coffee shop, so if don't fancy big hotel breakfasts, at least you got an alternative choice.

The only compliant that I have is you have to pay 25 euros for the internet, which is ultra expensive. and this is more or less regardless whether you got your hiltons honors or not, which makes it even worse! Otherwise, it's a decent hotel to be in.

Room Tip: As for a room that faces the canel, you will get the best view

We stayed here 3 nights after staying 2 nights at the Doubletree Hotel by Centraal Station. I preferred the Hilton Amsterdam (which was much cheaper!). The hotel is 1 block from the #16 tram which is easy to take to the museum area (if you don't want the ~15 min comfortable walk in good weather), the market area, Heineken experience, and Dam square.

The beds were firm and comfortable with excellent pillows. We were upgraded to the Executive level 9th floor (facing away from the canal) since I'm a Hilton gold member (free and fast internet too). The breakfast and evening food selections were great and the attendants were helpful. The lounge on the 10th floor is all glass with wonderful city views. The room was very quiet and the bathroom is large with good counter space and very accommodating with robes and slippers.

I would stay here again.

Dear KrisKT,

Thank you very much for reviewing Hilton Amsterdam here on TripAdvisor.

It is wonderful to read that you were happy with your stay and the location we’re in. It is only a short stroll from Vondelpark and also the cosy restaurants in the neighbourhood serve delicious dishes. For authentic Italian cuisine, we would love to welcome you to Roberto’s Restaurant.

On the 10th floor you indeed have a fantastic 360⁰ panoramic view of the city of Amsterdam. Did you know that Museum Square, which you can see from there, is definitely worth visiting? There are several world renowned museums like Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum.

We know that our guests value a good night’s sleep and that is why we offer a pillow menu. This way you can combine our firm and comfortable beds with the pillow of your choice.

It would be a delight if we could welcome you back with us in the near future.

Best regards,

I did visit this hotel in 3 occasions and each did receive a great welcome and nice service. I must say that the hotel on top of the high standards applied in Hilton, they have the luxury of a great italian restaurant in their walls and for me this is a fantastic plus as the quality there is woaw!

I want to really highlight the quality of the executive lounge... Service is great and food variety is fantastic... It's location on the roof also offers a great view on Amsterdam and this completes the experience!

Dear Mr. Brendan F,

Thank you for reviewing our hotel here on TripAdvisor.

It is a delight that you mention our Team Members to be “very good and attentive”. Hilton Amsterdam is indeed ideally located in the neighbourhood Oud-Zuid. It’s away from the hustle and bustle from the city centre, and still centrally located with all tourist and business attractions easily accessible.

We hope that Hilton Amsterdam will again be your choice on your next visit to this beautiful city.

Please let me start by telling you this was my very first stay in Amsterdam. I was looking for a hotel with a name I trusted and Hilton is certainly one I trust. I stayed mid May 2014.

I was greeted by Daan who genuinely could not had been more helpful. The room I selected overlooked the canal and although it was raining the view was very pretty. I made my way down to the bar and was greeted by Penny who could not had been more welcoming. She asked if this was my first trip to Amsterdam and I said that it was. She mentioned a few areas of interest and serviced the table by bringing drinks I ordered and some nibblies.

Some tips:
- Amsterdam is flat. I don't mind walking and we walked from the hotel right to the train station. It's a very easy walk so don't be fooled by people saying its miles out because it simply isn't.
- Breakfast is well worth the extra. It's a large room with plentiful variety and volume of food.
- You can purchase a tram ticket from the newsagent in the hotel.
- You can purchase a guaranteed taxi fare from the hotel to Schiphol for €35 (I think). The airport is not too far away but the line up at Schiphol meant you should leave some time to check in to your flight. Well worth booking through the hotel for that peace of mind.

Access to the executive lounge is lovely. A nice big glass room at the top of the hotel. Beautiful views from all sides.

Rooms:
- Was large and exceptionally clean.
- Do ask for one with a view of the canal. Just lovely waking up and looking at it.

Room Tip: Book a room with a view of the canal. If budget can stretch, get one with executive access and pay...

We were very pleased with our stay at the Hilton Amsterdam . We were upgraded to a suite because we are Hilton Honors members. The canal water view from the room was wonderful. We mentioned it was our anniversary and they treated us to many special surprises. Loved our visit with Hilton.

Based on four days, this is a adequate hotel located in a pleasant neighborhood with fair weather walking to the major museums, the RAI convention center and a number of enjoyable restaurants. Rooms are clean and housekeeping service was exceptionally attentive and non-intrusive. Offsetting these pleasantries are some unfortunate annoyances. The Half Moon outdoor lounge is relaxing but service is lackadaisical. The hefty 25 euro daily charge for in-room Wi-Fi is ridiculous. Use their free lobby Wi-Fi. Breakfast is ample but mediocre and therefore overpriced; alternatives are nearby including Starbucks. The front desk is unsmiling. There is no swimming pool. I don't hesitate to recommend the hotel as an adequate Hilton but it could be much better.
