“Nice Hotel in a nice part of town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2011

My wife and I stayed at the Amsterdam Hilton from August 31 to September 4, 2011. The hotel is outside of the downtown area, easily accessable by tram or bus. The hotel is very well maintained and the staff are very attentive and helpful.

As Hilton Honors Gold members we were upgraded to an executive room with executive lounge access, we were also given access to breakfast at Roberto's the upscale restaurant in the hotel. The lounge is located on the top of the hotel with nice views but is small not cozy, not really a place to hang out in like some lounges. Breakfast in Roberto's was fantastic!!

The staff is very helpful. We simply asked at the front desk if we could see the John & Yoko suite and they called someone to show us the unit - we did give him a little help for his tour and taking pics.

The hotel obviously caters to upscale travellers. There was an Aston Martin and Maseroti in the parking lot during our stay. Also, it seems that there was a business luncheon or dinner every day.

Overall a very nice hotel in a very nice part of amsterdam. For what it is worth, to get downtown you walk about 2 blocks to catch the tram and it will take you directly through downtown. Best bet - buy a multiple day pass.

Here are some pics from our trip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDULeGowbzs

Dear Debmike,

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review of our hotel on TripAdvisor. The pictures are very much appreciated as well.

We are pleased to read that you had a nice experience during your 5 days stay with us and that you enjoyed the peaceful neighbourhood.

Thank you for praising our friendly Team Members, who took great pride in fulfilling your wish of seeing the John & Yoko Suite.

As you mentioned, the hotel is closely located to the Van Gogh museum and also the Stedelijk museum and the Rijksmuseum are within walking distance of the Hilton Amsterdam, but the tram services are one of the easiest option as well.

Thank you for staying at the Hilton Amsterdam and we hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to the hotel in the near future.

Yours sincerely,

This is a reasonably good hotel by Amsterdam standards. The rooms are of reasonable size and quality. The Executive Lounge is on the roof and has particularly good views of the city and the canal. Breakfasts up there are great but don't start until 7 am. The fitness centre also does not open until 7 -- it has a lot of equipment -- including some unusual machines for abs. The fitness centre is only free for golds and diamonds in HHonors. Overall this is a decent option - nothing spectacular but a reasonable hotel in a reasonable location.

Located 10 minutes by tram from the centre of Amsterdam (Tram 5) the hotel is then 3 minute walk along tree lined street

Hotel is clean, staff are incredible helpful and the view from our room was very impressive - Room was good size, very clean and executive bar on 10th floor is again worth a visit for the views

Taxi from hotel to centrum is cheap and easy, also same to return to Hotel - only one Hilton in Amsterdam Central

Gym at hotel is very good as well

We loved the hotel. Clean and nice service. Only thing is that it could be better location in regards to centre. But renting bike in Amsterdam is great, and only took 15min to bike.

My husband and I stayed 6 nights at the Hilton. The hotel is situated in a quiet neighbourhood (near Vondelpark) little out of the busy core area, but easily reached by a very efficient tram nearby. The hotel has bikes should you be inclined. We found numerous decent restaurants in walking distance of the hotel.
Although on the small size, our room was quite comfortable with a modern, clean bathroom. The view of the city (on the canal side) is quite exquisite. The pillow and soap menus were a nice touch, as well as the turn down service. The buffet breakfast was a treat. The staff was very pleasant and always helpful.
On the negative side internet is rather expensive at 27Euro/day. But easily available at other locations for the price of a coffee.
Overall, we would happily return and certainly recommend this hotel.
