My friend and I have just returned from staying in the smaller of the two apartments, Yellow Tulip. We were met by a young girl who showed us around the apartment. Whilst very pleasant she did not appear to know the apartment well as when we asked if it had a safe she seemed unaware if it did. After she left we investigated and found it in the cupboard near the front door.
The apartment is a little dated, but nevertheless very cosy and in a perfect location in the Jordaan area. For two people it was more than big enough if a little strangely set out. As previous reviewers have mentioned it is definitely not for elderly, very young children or for anyone with physical disabilities. Also no sink by the toilet is inconvenient/unhygienic. The coffee/tea they mention that are there for you on arrival - well half a dozen tea bags and one coffee bag for the coffee machine did seem a little mean. We bought a large bag of coffee bags and so at least the next guests will be well supplied!
A number of lights bulbs were out and although having a dishwasher and washing mahine was great, no detergent/tablets made it a bit difficult to use. Take some with you if you don't want to have to buy large packs.
Although we felt very comfortable and at ease here there was one big downside. Being attached to the other apartment, Red Tulip, which is accessed by wooden stairs which go up directly beside and over your apartment to wooden floored rooms above, makes it extremely noisy. Especially when you have a party of youngsters upstairs who do not adhere to the apartments rules on noise and consideration to others. We have suggested that carpeting the stairs and rugs on the floors may help with cushioning the noise. But being kept awake until 1.30pm in the morning was not great!
Would certainly look at the other apartments they have for the future, but feel the noise would stop us from using this one again.
