Description: St James's Gate is a large Irish Pub authentically and tastefully decorated and perfect for large groups of people. With its large bar and spacious seating area in the front, a very cosy, warm and intimate area in the back, St James's Gate appeals to many. Despite being relatively new St James's Gate has a good clientel mainly due to the amiable staff who are predominantly Irish. Drinking here you'll have a wide selection of Irish beers and whiskeys and with the resident Irish chef you'll get absolutely delicious food and before you know it you'll be a regular customer to St James's Gate.

excellent service and staff extremely friendly. Fantastic food at great prices considering the popular location. Would definitely visit on our next trip. Despite the name the bar caters for and is visited by all nationalities.

“An Irish Gem of Good Service on the Rembrandtplein”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2014

We stopped here for a nightcap on our way home. Although we did not eat a meal here, I had to post a review because there service was exceptional. When you eat on the square at some of the touristy destinations in and around Amsterdam you sacrifice service for convenience. Not here, though! It was a busy Saturday night and the two guys working were just nice. Really nice.

“Good food, shocking prices!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2014

Hadn't been in here in years, and though I've visited Amsterdam many times in between I just never really ventured in here again. Probably for the best.

The food was tasty, and I cannot fault them much there, but the prices were an absolute joke! Over 8 euro for a pint of Magners/Bulmers Cider and the Guinness was well over the 7 euro too.
The food was good, but for the prices they charge I expect to be eating in a proper restaurant, not a pub!

They really know that they only attract tourists, and it seems they don't care for any return visitors. As long as they can fleece them for their bucks now is all that matters.
Tourist trap! Would not recommend any of my friends, as they can find great food in loads of other spots in Amsterdam, including a few of the Irish pubs like Molly's, Nellly's and O'Reilly's without being ripped off.

“One of the best cooked breakfasts you'll find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2014 via mobile

Stopped here on several occasions while on holiday in Amsterdam. A large pub with a large seating area directly onto Rembrandtsplein and plenty of seating inside as well.

Sky Sports on the TV at most times but be warned, gets rammed full when a big game is on.

The food was excellent Irish/British fare and the breakfast is especially recommended.

Also would like to make note of the friendly staff who were a mix of British and Dutch who were very polite and helpful. Just be careful with the table service as it's easy to run up a decent sized bill without noticing. This is suspended during large sporting events.

Highly recommended, couldn't find an Irish/British style pub its equal in the course of the week.

“Exceptional service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2014

Visited this pub many times morning noon and night during our stay. Not sure it ever closes!!
Serves a great hearty breakfast at very reasonable prices and also main meals throughout the day. Wide range of drinks, reasonably priced. There are tables outside with blankets so you can keep warm. Free wifi too. There is a small room in one corner where you can smoke - without the place smelling!
It's in the main square, so hop off a tram and go in for a drink. Lovely staff!!
