“Great hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

We had 3 nights here in December. Beautiful hotel, very clean and although a little bit out from the centre, the number 13 tram stops just across the road. They also have a shuttle from and to the airport.

The food in the restaurant is very good for people who don't want to go out at night to eat.

The breakfast buffet has something for everyone. The only negative thing I have to comment on is that 2 of the staff working at breakfast had a disagreement which shouldn't be done in front of the guests.

I was unwell during my stay here, so my view might be less complimentary than it might have been.

My wife and I stayed here between Christmas and New Year 2012.

The hotel is out of the town centre. It is a big hotel, modern and comfortable. Tram 13 has stops nearby and a regular service into the city centre. It takes about 15 mins by tram to the central station. The trams get pretty full in the afternoon after 4.30 and are slower.

For us the only problem was that being slightly out of city centre we felt that we were a captive audience for meals.

Breakfast was 12.5 Euros if booked and was quite good.

In the evening, after doing the tourist stuff in Amsterdam, we went back to the hotel and didn't feel like going out for evening meal. The hotel choice of evening meal seemed expensive; a 3 course meal with very limited choice was 35 Euros. The cheapest wine was 4.95 Euros for a small glass and the staff is quite good at getting you to order a couple of extras that might elsewhere be free, like bread and water.

The a la carte menus was also quite limited and more expensive. There were some bar meals. I had a burger with chips. It was a good burger, but still cost 24 Euros. If there were cheaper alternatives we failed to find them.

There is a airport pick-up, which is free and 5 Euros for the return trip to the airport.

The hotel is on the edge of a park, but it being winter and me having a temparature, we didn't go for a walk around.

Stayed here with my sister for 3 nights and loved every minute!
The hotel is gorgeous, very modern and brand new.
Staff were lovely and the rooms had a great view over Amsterdam centre.
It was only a 10min max journey time by tram from right outside the hotel to the centre of the city.
To be honest it was great jumping on the tram to a less busy location at the end of the night.
Main attractions like Anne Franks house etc were only 5 mins on the tram.

Would recommend this hotel to anyone and will definately be returning next year!!!!

Room Tip: Best thing I can recommend is to buy the unlimited day trip ticket on the trams so that you can ju...

Spent 5 days over Christmas 2012 here. Easy to get to from airport with their shuttle bus, great welcome from all staff. Apparantly after two months working the staff stay for a night to experience the hotel and service. Great idea. Room was outstanding and the unusual 17th floor restaurant and bar only added to the experience. Outside the bustle of the centre, the hotel is only a 10 minute tram ride direct from the hotel to Dam square. Well done to all at the Ramada Apollo, we'll definately be back

We stayed in this hotel over Christmas 2012 and had a great stay. It's a really funky and modern hotel and the staff were lovely throughout our stay. We got a free airport shuttle bus from the airport (5 Euro on the return), which was really convenient. The airport is a little way out in the business district, but the 13 tram is just outside and gets your right into the centre in about 15 minutes.

There's also a great 25m indoor swimming pool (and an outside one in the summer) just 6 mins walk from the hotel, next to the Kentucky Fried Chicken. The only weird thing is the lack of headboard...but this isn't really a huge problem. It would be great to be able to buy things like chocolate bars etc from a machine as well. But apart from that we found it excellent...and incredible value for money over the Christmas period (around 130 Euros each for 4 nights!).

Give it a go!

our company decided to make the Mid-Year management conference a the Ramada Apollo Hotel.

meeting&event executive department was super professional!

staff was extremely friendly and polite, rooms were in a good size and very clean!
the meeting room was just as we wanted with all the required equipment, refreshment was just as we expected.
breakfasts and lunches were fresh and tasty.

the dinner at the 17th floor restaurant was delicious, food perfectly done, service very efficient and caring.

Clean, comfortable, good nights sleep (4) friendly staff with easy quick transport to the city centre via the no.13 tram outside. I would recommend anyone to stay here - not sure of the cost as booked through lastminute.com so cant comment of value.
