“We loved it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2012

We really enjoyed our meal! We ate heaps! We ordered al le carte and shared everything. Wine was a reasonable price. We were extremely satisfied and I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The Bami and Nasi Goreng were a little disappointing but the rest of the food more than made up for it. We ordered number 23, 17 and 12 for mains. Nothing glamorous but worth a visit!

“Good Food, Reasonably Priced”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2012

We ate at Sukabumi our last night in Amsterdam and, with the exception of some lunches we'd really enjoyed, we hadn't been overwhelmed by the food experience. The beer experience, yes, but the food was kind of so-so. We stumbled upon this restaurant, read the menu and kept walking, but after another twenty minutes of fruitless searching for another restaurant that caught our fancy, we gave in to hunger and gave it a try. The only waiter, who we thought must have been the proprietor, was very helpful and attentive. We ordered combo plates and we were quite impressed. Not blown away, but satisfied. Overall, it was tasty Indonesian cuisine at a fair price. Fair enough.

“Food was quite good and price competitive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2012

We are careful about where we eat based on cost. Knowing that the Indonesian Rijsttafel is popular among tourists, we were interested but skeptical due to high price. However, we noticed that this restaurant offers a similar, but one plate special of 9 items at only 11€ pp (#24 on the menu, "Nasi Rames Speciaal") rather than the pricier 12 item at 20€. (All 9 items are on the 12-item list.) It was more than enough food and we found it quite tasty. The atmosphere is not great, just a few tables, and not fancy, but definitely a better buy than most restaurants in the tourist area, which offer pretty much the same meat and French fries. We found it a nice inexpensive option after several days of same ole stuff.

“Avoid!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2012

This was definitely the worst Indonesian restaurant I've ever been to. There are many Indonesian restaurants in Amsterdam, so I'm sure there are better options.

We had a group of five eating, and we had nothing good to say about the place. Our food came out immediately after we'd ordered it, and unsurprisingly, it all tasted like it had just been removed from a bain-marie.

Indonesian is usually my favourite type of cuisine, and this restaurant was not an example of that!

“Overpriced, poor quality Indonesian food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2011

This place servers up huge meals of very poor quality Indonesian food. We opted for the vegetarian set meal and couldn't finish it, in part because there was a lot of food, but mostly because it all tasted pretty similar, no matter what dish it was. The food had a kind of greasy, processed, fast food quality to it. The best dish was the spicy tempeh, but it was surpassed by the spicy tempeh we ate on our airplane on the flight home. Yes, the place was trumped by airplane food. The lone server practically fawned over us, so kudos for him for really working it, but it's just too bad the same level of attention wasn't going on in the kitchen. On top of everything else, it's rather pricey here.
