“Tiny room with HUGE furniture in great location”
Reviewed December 28, 2011

Lovely location. 5min walk to Rijk and concertgebow. Room was very small (I thought that I'd booked the 30 sqm room, it was too late when I checked in and didn't want to bother an argument with the front desk at 1am) and stupidly designed considering the size. Two big arm chairs, anyone?Hello? And what's with the shiny curtains and brown color scheme? First of all I wanted to throw one of the chairs out of the window so there was some space for luggage.
Sink doesn't fit in the bathroom, so it is at the entrance. The bathroom has a spa bath and a tv, but the water resistant remote for tv doesn't work, I hope they've noticed it by now.
Bed is comfortable and there was an overall feeling of privacy, up in the top floor cramped with all the furniture. It's a shame because this hotel could really be very cosy and homey with few little updates.

This is a wonderful lovely hotel. We stayed for 4 nights the week before Christmas and Amsterdam was beautiful. The hotel is situated in a quiet road with excellent access to the Rijksmuseum (2min walk) and an easy walk to Leidsplein (in fact we walked everywhere in Amsterdam - fabulous location). It is away from all the hussle and bussle (no groups of lads or loud music/clubs) and it is very very romantic.

The rooms are beautiful. We had the most gorgeous jacuzzi bath (perfect after a long day walking around Amsterdam), new towels every day (by the end of the week we had 10 towels in the room!) Lovely coffee machine and posh tea. The bed was so comfortable and the rooms were a nice size.

A big thank you to the staff at the hotel. We had a few problems in the UK and they really helped out with phonecalls and their kindness. Rooms were kept immaculate.

A lovely romantic hotel for those who want to enjoy the wonderful beautiful and cultural side of this incredible city. Highly highly recommended.

Many thanks xx

Room Tip: It's worth upgrading to an executive room - jacuzzi bath is a must!

We were orginally booked in JL No76's sister hotel Hotel Vondel but due to there being a spare room they asked if we wanted to try it out as it was new. We stayed in the an Executive Room which was great. It had a giant king bed, plasma tv, jucuzzi bath with its own tv at the foot of the bath and a nespresso machine. The breakfast that was included was great, it had the old favourite of bacon and eggs and cereal as well as the more european ham and cheeses. Good location and close to a few trams into the centre of Amsterdam.

We arrived midweek for a three night stay. The hotel is indeed a perfect 'boutique' hotel. The soft furnishings are very glam and every communal area is imaculate.
Our room wasn't huge but just perfect for the two of us.
We had an incredible jucuzzi bath, a nespresso machine, two tvs (good channel choice) and the most comfortable HUGE bed with wonderful pillows!
The staff couldn't have been more wonderful..from hiring bikes, to booking restaurants and giving the best 'off the beaten track' info about the city.

All in all a wonderful stay, would recommend.

This hotel is set behind the a high end shopping district and is surrounded by museums, arty eateries and easy tram access. The hotel is easy to get to from Schipol using the 197 bus that takes you to the front door (50yrs away) in 15mins
The rooms are well designed with comfy beds, large tv and modern bathrooms including a bath tv and a nespresso coffee machine!
I didn't eat at the hotel but made use of the honesty bar that was priced slightly different to the form you fill in. I also hired bikes from the hotel to explore the best of Amsterdam and would recommend this to other guests, the bikes are very good, well maintained and are at a very comparable price to other rentals.

The location is unbeatable on a beautiful treelined quiet street. Two minutes walk to the Van Gogh and Rijks galleries.
My room was very comfortable. Nespresso machine, tv over the bath, etc
The hotel is small and there are very few staff so if you wished to be greeted every few minututes by liveried staff this is not the place for you. The hotel seems to have been converted from two 19th century apartment blocks but it retains old world charm.
Do rent a bike either from the hotel or from Mike's Bike's.

Room Tip: avoid the attic or basement rooms.
