Intimate and cosy, food is insanely good. We visited twice a year apart and the quality hadn't faltered at all.

Hoping we'll be back again in another year!

I ate at de Struisvogel several times, and I have never been disappointed. In summer you can sit outside and watch people passing by in the canal, in winter you enjoy the warm atmosphere inside... The food is great and well-priced, especially the 3-course menu. Ostrich is of course not to be missed, but other mains are worth trying. The service is very friendly. Very recommended, with friends, family or for a romantic evening.

We ate here following recommendations from Tripadvisor: I would recommend booking in advance as the restaurant is small and popular. The restaurant was cosy but slightly cramped (having to squeeze between tables to reach your seat - not so bad before your meal but not so easy afterwards... ;-) . We ate from the set menu which was reasonably priced (25 euros for 3 courses) with a good choice of meaty and veggie dishes. We were a bit disappointed as the food was perhaps not as tasty as we'd hoped (although my starter of strawberry and goats cheese salad was lovely) but the atmosphere was good and the service friendly and accommodating.

It is a very little place (therefore book in advance!) very well located on the Kaisergracht. The menus as well as the wines are at very reasonable prices and were delightful.
But the number 1 reason for having dinner at the Struisvogel is the exceptionally friendly and charming service!

This charming little spot at basement level was reasonably priced and very good. The three-course prix fixe menu had choices of five items for each course, and is a good deal. The two of us had the coconut carrot soup and beef carpaccio (slight price supplement) for appetizers, Mains were brioche with goat cheese and tomatoes, and Belgian beef stew. Desserts were lemon mousse with limoncello, and apple crumble with cinnamon ice cream. All the food was very good and we were pleased. Service was friendly but slowed down a lot as the restaurant filled up. Reservations can be made on line.
