“design hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2011

It s a nice hotel, where design is really important. Rooms are big and confortable, bathroom is big as well but it could be better ( please, no automatic switch off of the lights in bathroom - or tell it to ur clients!!). Breakfast is not so big but staff is really nice and helpful. From central station you can reach directly the hotel with tram 4 and 24 ( few stops). I think the price is too high ( common problem in Amsterdam...) but for sure you can have anice stay there.

Great hotel close enough to centre to be able to walk to most places. Very polite friendly staff. Rooms tastefully decorated. Absolutely no criticism at all.

The Notting Hill trys very hard but it has a few oddities. A regular business traveller to Amsterdam I've stayed at the hotel a number of times since it opened, each time some little thing leaves me disatisfied.

The rooms are superb but the motion detector bathroom light is very irritating.

Avoid the basement rooms -- the one I got was a little musty smelling. Definitely avoid rooms on the ground floor as there isn't a door between the ground floor rooms and the foyer....it can be noisy.

One huge advanatge is electrical outlets at each bedside table meaning there is no need to crawl under desk etc to power your phone.

Great staff, stylish rooms but a few little kinks to iron out

Dear Orla,

Thank you very much for your review and your stay with us. Because we are a new hotel we are very interested in the comments from our guests. Thanks to your comments we have improved the hotel the last months with the last details. For example, we have changed the lighting in the bathrooms in the hotel to normal light switches.

Thank you again for your review and if you are coming to Amsterdam please let us know.

All the best!

Very stylish, newly built hotel (as of July 2011.) Lovely, well-designed rooms with all details well-thought out...e.g. little Nespresso machine. Welcoming, helpful staff. Was greeted on a hot day with a cold glass of water... small gestures of a hospitable staff. Great location just outside the famous Amsterdam chaos, but close enough to the action - about a 10 min walk. Tram stop that takes you to the central station right in front of the hotel. Rooms can be pricey ordinarliy but I was able to get a last minute single room for 80 Euros plus tourist tax.

Thank you for making my stay so enjoyable. Your staff, the rooms, the free wifi and the endless supplies of licorice allsorts..... what more could anyone want! Great bed, great sleep, endless hot water and beautful bathrooms, and the Nespresso machine was great!

The food at the restaurant was delicious, and 'Roots' restaurant over the road does a great bucket of mussells too! Tram 4 outside to Amsterdam RAI or Centraal Station is very handy to Schipol airport - and the 7 or 10 to the shops was a breeze.

I hope the prices don't go up with these reviews.... as I would for sure like to stay again. Late Rooms.com had the best prices for my stay here out of all of them.

My room was 216 and it was lovely!

Room Tip: I had 216 - great room, no complaints at all!

My wife and I though we found a gem off the beaten path a little bit, but found on average hotel that was a pricey cab ride away from all the sites and night life. It has a nice reception area and restaurant but that's where it really ends. The first tried to stick us in the basement where is smelled like smoke from outside. Then they moved us to the 4th floor which was basically a shoe box with a weird shaped roof over the bed. The bed was clean and comfortable, just very small. Overall it was a clean decent hotel, just much to far out of the way if you're only spending the weekend there and want to see the city.

Room Tip: Not sure, my room wasn't great.
