We chose the Blue line. It was convient to our location. The Captain was pleasant and very informative. The route that the boat took gave you a overal picture of the city. it was comfortable seating and the head phone worked well. I guess you can say that we enjoyed it as we did a great deal of walking and needed a rest

I really enjoyed the canal cruise. Easy to book, no reservation necessary and not a lot of waiting time. A canal cruise is a great way to introduce Amsterdam. There are some very beautiful sites from the water! The boat we were on had English commentey per a loud speaker, however there was a group of people at the far end that were quite noisy so unfortunately we missed the key information!

Don't even think of going to Amsterdam if you don't have an hour or so to tour the canals in a glass covered boat.

The tour is perfect for your first day in Amsterdam. The canals are adorable and the tour is complete.

We were looking to hire a boat to take around ourselves but a good sales pitch (and willingness to negotiate a group discount of €15 each) got us into the ECO boat at the first mooring as you walk away from the station.
Its an open top lifeboat style, with seats aorund the edge rather than the larger 'bus style' glass topped boats you see everywhere else.
This means you get much more interraction with the guide (who was excellent) and the boat goes into much smaller and quieter canals.
The open top means it was on the cool side in April.
The tour lasted about 90 minutes, and took in all the main areas inc China town, Redlight and University districts, the Amstel and the main ring canals.
