“fantastic!”
Reviewed February 5, 2014

Fantastic! The free audio guide REALLY helps make everything interesting, and the house is beautifully maintained, with open air exhibits as if it was still lived in. There is a wonderful free workshop where you can make an etching--in the same room where Rembrant used to teach his apprentices. Pretty darn cool. (Free with Iamsterdam card)

“A GREAT EXPERIENCE”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

You have seen his paintings in the Rijksmuseum -now you see where he lived and worked. We went in January and used our Museum Card ( you must get one if you are to do a lot of museums ) -the place was nearly empty, which was a bonus. It is a fine house and a special experience as you imagine the Master walking around, doing his etchings & printing them - plus his studio is magnificent. What tied the whole thing together was the two demonstrators- one showing the printing process and the other the paint preparation. They were both full of information.lovely personalities and prepared to answer all questions -a real highlight of my afternoon. We saw the film at the end of our tour -very good. Nice shop with a wide selection of items. I really great experience .but please note the stairs are steep.

“Visit this with MuseumKaart”
Reviewed January 30, 2014

This is a very interesting, small museum. I would have been unhappy to have paid 12 Euros to get in as it is nearly as expensive as the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh museum although they really aren't comparable in scope. However, I bought the Museumkaart and was able to see many, many museums on my week in Amsterdam. It is a great value for money.

The best part about this museum is the demonstrations. Don't go late in the day as they seem to end around 4pm. I learned about etching and engraving from an artist who explained Rembrandt's techniques in a vivid way. You can buy her copies of his amazing work too!
