“Rembrandt's House”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

I visited this site with my 20 year old son. Neither of us are fond of the darkness of Rembrandt's paintings, but were able to appreciate his talent. However, we really enjoyed visiting Rembrandt's House. It was inspirational to stand by the easel and know Rembrandt created many of his masterpieces in that room. We also timed our visit perfectly and saw demonstrations on etching and mixing paint colors that were very interesting.

“deja vu”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

the modern side doesn't belie the size of the old, it's actually quite an extensive house so be prepared to lose an hour or so. full of sketches and etchings that are not the famous ones but if you know rembrandt's work you get the uncanny sense that you are part of a few of his canvases. having spent a small fortune on the house he used both it and his wife as setting and model, so each room reveals a story.
good cafe opposite, orff.

“A taste of Rembrandt Van Rijn”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

The house gives you a good idea how Rembrandt lived and worked in this house.
The explanation how paint was made in his time was excellent.

“Don't miss the etching demo”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Covered by the Museumkaart. Entrance also includes an audioguide, which adds a lot to the visit. When you get to the second floor, make sure to check the schedule for the etching demo first, then tour the rest of the museum while keeping the schedule in mind. There's a limit to the number of visitors allowed in the small room for the demo, so you may want to get to the demo before it starts, depending on how crowded it is.
