We stayed at Hotel Sebastian's for one night last week during a trip through several countries and Europe, and I'm so glad we did. This was our first stop, and expectedly, we were tired from the journey. Sebastian's could not have made things easier for us. Check in was a breeze, and the staff was very welcoming. We were there in the morning before check in officially began, so they offered us breakfast for free (it was a very good breakfast which I would highly recommend), and within a half an hour, our room was ready.

The room was typically European and therefore smaller than American hotels, but very well appointed and we found nothing lacking. The bathroom was actually bigger than expected and larger than the average European bathroom.

Most importantly, the hotel was quiet. It is located on a beautiful, but quiet canal, and is within easy walking distance to many of the things one would like to see in Amsterdam such as Dam Square, the Red Light District, and the Anne Frank House.

We hope to return to Amsterdam someday, and I see no reason why we would stay anywhere other than this wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: We did not have a canal view room. Ours faced the garden out back and was still a nice view and was...

I stayed here for 3 nights the first week in march, I could not fault a thing.
The staff are exceptional, very knowledgable about the area and tourist places to visit, very friendly and polite and can't do enough for customers.
The location of the hotel is great, very close to central station.
The rooms are spotlessly clean, I was impressed by the iPod dock and espresso machine in my room.
I highly recommend this hotel!

We were looking for a hotel in Amsterdam which wasn't a large chain hotel and reflected the quirkiness of Amsterdam without a huge price tag. Hotel Sebastian seemed to fit the bill perfectly on paper and with the positive reviews on Trip Advisor I decided to book a room for my husband and I for a weekend.
We arrived on the Friday around 8pm and were greeted by very welcoming and helpful staff who orientated us to the area quickly and gave us several recommendations for restaurants that evening.
As other reviewer have said the decor is quite unusual with very dark opulent colours which does make this small hotel seem even smaller. The reception area and corridors were quite worn with a lot of chips and marks on the walls, skirting etc. This was the same once we got into our room - the room and bathroom seemed 'worn' with the dark lighting at night hiding the fact that there is a need for some touching up and TLC throughout the hotel.
We had booked a large room but was unable to get a canal view - instead we were at the back of the hotel with the view of a very scruffy back 'garden'. Friends had a canal view room and this had a much better view.
Whilst the room provided all that we needed for our two night stay we would definitely say this hotel is just a three star as advertised.
However on a plus the staff at all times were so very friendly and helpful. On the first night Lisa, one of the reception staff rang around several restaurants for us to check availability, to no avail, but then recommended a restaurant close by which needed no reservation. An excellent choice and we enjoyed wonderful food.
We didn't partake in the hotel breakfast as we found the atmosphere a little dark and depressing first thing in the morning but there are many cafe's right on the hotel's doorstep.
This hotel is in an ideal location with wonderful staff but be aware that it doesn't have the luxury and fine touches of a four star hotel as it is, as they advertise, a three star hotel.

Room Tip: A canal view room is a must in this hotel.

Our stay at Hotel Sebastian's exceptional. We were visiting Amsterdam for a romantic weekend city break and could not have picked a better hotel for the occasion.

The hotel is ideally located in a quiet beautiful part of town but still only a 10 minute walk from the station and the main attractions.

The decor of the hotel is quirky, modern, fun and trendy. I really liked it but it may not be to everyone's taste. Our room was super clean. Loved the shower and the toiletries provided. The coffee machine was a great touch.

The staff were all so incredibly friendly and helpful. The lift was out of order during our stay but the staff could not have dealt with it in a more efficient way. We were even offered a discount or free breakfast for the duration of our stay to make up for the inconvenience.

I am already looking forward to my next stay at Hotel Sebastian's!

Room Tip: Room 229 was a lovely room. A good sized suite with a lovely canal view.

A good quality hotel at a fair price. Nicely located in a quiet neighbourhood, but within easy walking distance of most attractions, and less than a 10 minute walk from the station.

Reception was excellent - even allowing us to check in early on arrival (11:30), and bag storage on departure day was no problem either.

Staff very helpful and friendly - looked up listings for us, and recommended places to eat, and provided a useful map of the city centre.

Room was small, but well presented and clean. We had room no. 120, on the first floor, with a good outlook over the canal.

Bathroom clean, with a good shower and nice toiletries provided.
This is a nice individual hotel, and we'd certainly stay here again.

Although our booking was room only (as booked via hotels.com), on checkout, we were told it did actually include breakfast. This was too late for us to take advantage of (we had sightseeing to do, although staff did say we were welcome to take it, even though we had checked out) - so you might want to clarify breakfast arrangements on checking in......

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the canal provide a nice view, for a modest supplement
