All very convenient. Great for seeing everything the city has to offer. Rooms well appointed but a bit dull with blank walls and little in the way of imagination. Beds reasonably comfy. Rooms do seem rather small for a hotel of this rating. With furniture there's no space anywhere. Only shower and no baths. Sometimes you need a bath after a long day sight seeing. Breakfast impressive, well organised and very tasty. A wee bit pricey when compared to others.

Appreciate your review, it's very important to us. We do have rooms with bathtub as well, they can be requested upon making reservations. Rather than size of room we focussed on convenient lay out, extra facilities like the iMac computers and free wifi and really good power showers. Hope to welcome you back soon, make sure to contact me in advance!

Stayed in this hotel with a bunch of friends for 4 nights. We felt kind of out of place, since it looked like the crowd there was mainly business type. The hotel is very modern, our room had a Mac desktop with a free wi-fi. The bathroom and room were large and convenient. Our room had a river view. Breakfast was really good and had a nice variety. Sky bar is recommended. Location is excellent, near the central station. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

I took my partner for his 30th last weekend, its a 3 minute walk from station which is ideal as we managed to check in early (staff were so friendly and helpful) then go off to Dam Square to walk round, this was also within walking distance.
I booked a room with a balcony which had the most amazing view. No bath but the shower was a power shower and very nice. The room had a mac pc/tv which was a nice size as i thought it may be small and was very handy as we looked up places to go on the internet (free).
I cant fault this hotel, ok maybe the bacon & sausages could of been cooked a bit more as i like it crispy but the choice of food is amazing , with freshly squeezed orange juice, muffins, pancakes, fruit, everything you can think of.
To top it off the hotel gave my partner a birthday cake! I would receommend this hotel for sure and also a top tip if you want to go to museums or heineken tour or to a nice restaurant BOOK , saves disapointment as we went to go for a meal in a place recommended in a book i brought and it was full , also museums etc had big queues.

Room Tip: a room with a balcony is a must!

It is my new pet peeve that business hotels are removing bathtubs from hotel rooms. Lady travelers like to take a hot bath after a long day of travel and work! The hotel is great- the service is perfect the sky bar Xcellent. Breakfast overpriced but location perfect

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences. We do have rooms with a bathtub as well. Most of our travellers however prefer a really hot power shower rather then a bathtub with shower hence our choice to equip guestrooms with really good showers and only a selected number of rooms with bathtub and separte showers.

I booked the hotel as it was close to the train station, had good reviews, and sounded good value for money. The hotel is afew minutes to the left when you leave the railway station. I had emailed the hotel before i left to say i was celebrating my 50th birthday, and would it be possible for us to have a canal view. We arrived at the hotel to check in, the checking in staff were very friendly, and we were offered a warm cookie, that tasted very nice!! We had a lovely room overlooking the canal , with a mini-bar, the room was very nice , with little extras including an IMac tv/computer at no extra cost , and bath robes and slippers. The bathroom was very spacious, and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was really lovely, buffet style with a choice of english and continental, and the staff were very friendly. On the sky lounge on the top floor, there is a fantastic view of Amsterdam, it is beautifully decorated with lots of lovely sofas, and comfortable areas to sit relax and have a drink. The location is excellent, on the doorstep of central Amsterdam.
When we returned to our room on my birthday, we had a bottle of Champagne waiting in an ice bucket, which was a lovely suprise, and I also received a small cake. We would recommend the hotel, we cannot fault it. Thank you for my special birthday. Dawn & Mick. England.

No complaints no wow points.

A very practice location and clean hotel. Close to the centre of Amsterdam and next door to rail station.

Lacking in any atmosphere, bit of a Holiday inn in feel.

The roof bar is fun with good views .... Staff are veery friendly

I stayed here for one night at the start of November and was travelling with family members and friends.

Upon arrival at the hotel, at almost 3pm, we were told that none of the rooms ( we had six booked) were ready. I was unhappy with this and complained and thankfully the gentleman that served me was able to move me to another room. It's a bad sign when you arrive at a hotel at a stipulated time and the rooms are not ready; fortunately, in this case, they did the right thing from a customer service perspective and found me another room.

The location is next door to Centraal Station and is close to other landmarks and tourist areas in Amsterdam. You can also catch one of the trains from Centraal station to many places in the centre.

The reception area was continously busy and crowded and it appeared like the staff were run off their feet. I definitely think they could manage the front of house better by simply having more people available to deal with guests.

I had a deluxe room, so I was told; loved the Apple Mac in the room which was great and one of the reasons I've given the hotel a high rating.

Key strengths:

-> Great location
-> I-Mac in room
-> Comfortable bed
-> Modern, clean bathroom
-> Skylounge which is amazing ( around 12.50 a cocktail as per 01.11.12, 8 euro a wine and around 5-6 for a large beer)

Room for improvement:

-> Disorganised and cluttered front of house; too many people stood around in a very unstructured manner
-> Room itself was basic and of average size, the I-Mac gave it the technological advantage here
-> We didn't receive the cookie on arrival; the only couple in our group not to- not a big issue but consistency in service is important
-> The rooms facing the train station are noisy; we were on the 10th floor and could still hear the trains all day and night

The staff working at check-in etc were helpful, professional and friendly and seemed to work hard.

However, as much as I enjoyed the SkyLounge and would recommend it for the spectacular views and ambience, the majority ( with one exception) of staff were arrogant, service was slow and they totally took the business for granted. One member of staff who worked behind the bar, of middle eastern origin, was particularly rude and extremely unhelpful, which is disappointing when you are spending a significant amount of money.

The SkyLounge should be offering table service to all customers and therefore more staff is required. One waiter was simply rushed off his feet. There were also too many people queuing at the bar to order drinks which simply isn't acceptable in this kind of establishment, yet seem to be encouraged and promoted by the waiting staff ( probably because they were overworked).

Taking all this into account, I would stay here again as there is just some fine tuning required from management.

Room Tip: A room away from the train station.

Thank you so much for your kind review. During your stay we were surprised by an extreme increase in guests due to Hurricane Sandy, which meed the weekend rather hectic indeed. I do apologize, upon your next stay you will definatley see we have everything under control, as usual
