Owner description: Expand your world at NEMO Science Museum. In the largest science museum of the Netherlands you will find proof that science and technology can be captivating for all ages. The remarkable building on top of the IJ-tunnel offers five floors of exciting hands-on activities. At NEMO you can experience the joy of science and technology, by blowing gigantic soap bubbles, watch an enormous chain reaction and experiment in a real laboratory. In a variety of exhibitions you can 'Take a journey through the mind' or learn that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to sustainable electricity and smart transportation at 'Smart Technology'. Enjoy a magnificent view over Amsterdam The creative mind behind NEMO, build in 1997, is Italian architect Renzo Piano. He had a clear vision for his design of the NEMO building, with its very own piazza 22 metres above water level. The spectacular roof terrace has a magnificent view over Amsterdam and the Eastern Docklands. You can access the roof terrace free of charge. The roof terrace and cafe in NEMO are the perfect places to sit back, relax and enjoy a drink.

It is very good but ultimately it is 5 floors of the kids section at your standard science museum. I like buttons (especially ones that flash and make noise) as much as the next guy but it does get a bit boring after a while. Weather or not you choose to visit NEMO itself make sure you go to the roof terrace if you find yourself with nothing to do on a sunny day, the roof is free entry.

“An entertaining and educative few hours for adults and kids!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

Lovely place. Very hands-on, and the staff are really friendly. Its interactive and has a lot of interactive exhibits covering a range of topics. We went in with the holland pass, so it was a steal, but even otherwise, its worth the entrance fee. Its really tough to decide who enjoyed it more, my kids or me : )!

“wonderful for children, even teenagers will enjoy it.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

We went with our teenage daughter and it turned out to be an inspired choice. Practically all the exhibits are interactive and work on 2 levels, a simple level and a more sophisticated level suitable for teenagers. There is also a specific teenage area, which explains the teenage brain to teenagers (and their parents!), highlights the effect of drugs on the body and deals with teenage emotions. Not to be missed if you are a struggling parent of teenagers!

Fantastic place for kids to play and learn at the same time... and quite a lot for adults to learn too.
We spent 5 hours here and it felt like less than 1. Make sure you give yourself a full day to make the most of it. A fantastic range of exhibits, and every sign has an English translation, so there is no problem if you aren't fluent in Dutch.
Great day out.

“Nice, but more interesting for kids”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013

This museum is interesting, there are a lot experiments and educational videos to try and see yourself. But frankly it was not so interested for an adult. There is a very nice coffee on the roof of the NEMO museum. The panorama to the city is very beautiful. If you don't have to go inside the museum at least I recommend you to go to the coffee, it is worth and there is no need to pay the ticket for it.
