Went here for a Sunday lunch with friends based on a New York Times article and it was great! Surprisingly, we were the only ones in the entire restaurant at around 1:30 PM on a clear day, but I’m glad we were because the service and food was great. We went for the surprise tasting menu. You’re able to tell them your allergies and dislikes, so each dish is really tailored to you. Beer battered monkfish with cauliflower to start followed by perfectly cooked entrecote and a light fruit meringue and yoghurt dessert. Quite pricey for lunch, but I enjoyed it the experience. Really tasty and you get a complimentary canvas tote bag when you leave, which is a lovely idea and souvenir. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Brought a friend here for her birthday dinner; we'd just come from nine days of snooty service in Paris to find Wilde Zwijnen a totally charming, warm, friendly and delightful spot. The bartenders were not particularly sophisticated with mixology but they were charming and earnest, so it was all right. The noise level was a bit loud but that's to be expected on a Friday night in the summer.

The food was impressive- we ordered three starters and two entrees and found everything to be extremely well prepared, fresh, and interesting, with imaginative preparation and pairings. The service was wonderful...attentive and seamless; though we were waited on by about four different servers, everything flowed perfectly and we felt extremely well-cared for. When the five people at the table next door discovered one of us had a birthday, the immediately launched into a round of singing and proceeded to share their dessert :). The lovely server then presented each of us with a Wilde Zwijnen gift...a tote bag that will be perfect to carry home souvenirs. All in all, a memorable and wonderful evening; we're officially smitten with the friendly city of Amsterdam.

Tram number 10 takes one right to the front door of Wilde Zwynen which opened just over a year ago. The restaurant feels spacious, bright and clean. Lunch is served Fridays-Sundays and no reservations are needed. For dinner, reservations are a must. We went with the chef's 2 course lunch menu at 19.5 euros each . The set menu is always what the chef feels like cooking that day along with what is in the market. Our first course was slices of grilled pork with herring caviar, creme fresche and a small salad. Our 2nd course was cod in a delicious sauce with shallots, barley and string beans. Warm bread and butter along with the house wine complete the meal. As in many restaurants in Europe, the house wines are very inexpensive and good.

wow what a great surprise last friday night was for me and two friends.
to experience great food with even better service (with a big smile) at a very reasonable price in Amsterdam, we didn't think it was possible but Wilde Zwijnen proofed us it is!
the four of us had the chefs 4 course menu (fish/soup/chicken/strawberries), some beers and wines + coffee at a price of 50 E pp now thats the best deal i had in Amsterdam for a long time.
every round was tasty en fulfilling (desert best / main least). When around have a visit you will not regret.

If i have to mention one negative side (and there really only 1 minor) i could mention the waiting times. but in defense of the place: it was packed! inside was completely full as well the terrace.

TIP: when you make a reservation during the summertime try to get a place on the terrace

This was one of the best meals I've had for a very long time. We had beet ravioli, cauliflower soup, and a salad as our starters. All were wonderful. For main courses we had the fish of the day, duck, and a pasta dish. Again, all were wonderful, and the duck may have been the best I've ever had. The cheese course and desert were great, as was the selection of wines by the glass. The quality of the ingredients was top flight. The service was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was casually stylish and energetic. I want to go back again soon.
