Owner description: This charming neighborhood is Amsterdam's Greenwich Village, with its narrow alleys, leafy canals lined with 17th-century houses, quirky specialty shops, cafes and designer boutiques.

Loved this area especially the most amazing cheese shop we chanced upon. Take a whole day to explore this area as you need to wind your way up and down streets to find un expected little shops. The cafes are quirky and different too.

Pretty canals, good restaurants, some nice bars and cafes. The Jordaan seems to have a more relaxed vibe than other districts. Worth spending a fews hours exploring

This is the most characterful and, to the visitor, the most characteristic district of Amsterdam. Long neglected, it is now being regenerated without suffering the mauling at the hands of developers which other canal sides of the Old Town have experienced. Don't miss the Westerkerk!

Head over here on a Saturday Morning ,where you can buy anything from a canary to apair of second hand Levi's. A quieter side of Amsterdam, fabulous cake shops wit hgreat coffee,(great for the morning after the night before)

This was probably the best part of Amsterdam for me, I simply loved it and spent the majority of two days there. It is utterly delightful and just full of quirky independent shops, gorgeous architecture, small friendly bars and cafes and so many photo opportunities, with the canals houseboats being the quintessential, picture postcard Amsterdam. This is old school cobbled roads with horse drawn carriages every now and then, houses that are literally leaning on eachother, many locals of all ages and the more appreciative tourist.

If you like to absorb some culture, have fun and do a bit of shopping and break up the day with some delicious fresh mint tea, apple cake, beer or coffee and people watching then this is a must see.
