The museum was lovely, but the crowd exceeded what should have been allowed. I would recommend going, however go as early as possible if you want less of a crowd.

One of those must do's for any art lover but there needs to be a bit of patience when dealing with the crowds. Book in advance when you're sure of date and time and then take the entrance by the glass atrium (not the group entrance you see by the road). I'm not sure it is an advantage to book early and try and avoid weekends unless you are time tied. Inside you will be encouraged to leave your coats and bags at the free lockers. Photography is restricted to selfoie spots by big canvasses unless, it seems, you are from anywhere in Asia in which case you phonephoto like mad. I would encourage you to take the multimedia offering so allow E24/person. The multimedia gives a lot more background on the pictures which helps context but does encourage other users to loiter in front of the pictures. Try and avoid going around near organised parties since a) many of them don't want to be there, and b) most restrict your own viewing and don't care. Acess is good for wheelchair users, though the lifts are quite slow and is spread over 3 floors. Allow a good 2 hours if accompanied by the multimedia guide. There didn't appear to be a mechanism of finding if works were out on loan so, if you are travelling all the way around the world to visit, I'd be tempted to try and phone to avoid major disappointment. During late 2019 Shoes was not available to see. There is an adjoining cafe which does reasonable light meals and good shops on the top floor and basement. The basement one is better.

This Museum is very well worth a visit. It has a whole host of Van Gogh paintings and sketches as well as other artists works.

We went with a private tour guide which really made a difference as he explained the history of Van Gogh, the paintings and made him come to life. It is a busy museum but worth the crowds. Very big gift shop with lots of Van Gogh merchandise. Lots to do in the area after you visit.

I'm a Van Gogh fan, so this is ground zero for me. A wonderful tour and audioguide. Allow three hours to do a leisurely visit.
