Be careful- after visiting this museum maybe 10 times- i arrived to find it sold out- and sold out the following day -Sunday. Now- instead of waiting in line- you must have a timed ticket- AND YOU CAN"T USE CASH. You must book on line- which is easy.. An amazing collection- that i never tire of seeing- so book ahead.

A must-see for one of the greatest artists who only sold two paintings in his lifetime. Now the city of Amsterdam gets to profit quite nicely from his brilliance. It is basically in chronological order of his life and paintings starting on the first floor with two more floors up and ending in his tragic death on the third floor. Reserve tickets online first or through your hotel with a designated time to get into the museum.

You really need to buy advance tickets online to the Van Gogh Museum if you want to be sure you get in on your day of choice. The Saturday I went was sold out and was extremely crowded, but well worth the effort.

The museum is much better since its renovation from when I went about twenty years ago. You start on the ground floor and work your way up. The audio guide was good, but I had to replace it three times for malfunction, dead battery, etc. (I think because they're used so much.)

Spent about 4 hours in this museum which is a long time on one painter, but the crowds and the comprehensiveness demanded the time. It's wonderful, and you really get a sense of Van Gogh's tragic life and fabulous output as an artist. There are not only landmark paintings but also letters and drawings.

The cafe is also excellent. This may be Amsterdam's number one attraction.

I always wanted to visit the Van Gogh museum and had a great time! I spent over 2 hours there and learned a lot about his (very short) life/influences, techniques, etc...

This museum boasts not only Vincent van Gogh but also related works from his time fellowing friends.
Here you will walk in the time line of Vincent and his life as an artist, you'll discover all the family connections and the son of Theo who made it happen that this museum was errected in the name of vincent van Gogh.
It's an interesting place to be and take a moment to look at the works he made from a distance or a different angle.
Furthermore you'll finds shops and a café where you can enjoy a lunch or a drink.

Of course, we all know that Van Gogh cut of his ear and he has some great paintings. This museum also explains the history of the person himself, which I always find very interesting.
You will see some of the greatest paintings of his time! The museum itself is also pretty cool, very modern and sleek building. I would recommend booking tickets in advance to skip the line :)

one of my favourite painters... so it was a pleasure going through his collection. Just a note... you have to purchase the tickets on line. you may need an hour or two to go through the museum..

I new a bit of Van Gogh life but not at the extend that the museum provides. If you don’t know anything about him you will
Get away with an idea of this marvellous and tormented soul. He was the first of his kind and even though misunderstood by society and family, apart from his brother Theo. He continued to search and unmoved his own art. At the same time he was discovering himself. That show the lack of empathy from the medical and society on mental health conditions. It is clear he always had a condition but he proved that he could continue to pursuit his dreams and he would’ve done more if respect and understanding was present.
Nevertheless his art is immortalised and I am Sure he is extremely happy to have a place to exhibit his work. It is worth every penny.

We took a private tour with Efi from Withlocals and she gave us the inside scoop on Van Gogh. There’s a lot in the museum but it’s manageable and well done. Hire a personal guide and learn the back story about Van Gogh and his life/art!

My first visit to Van Gogh Museum and I learnt so much about the life of Van Gogh. We bought our tickets at the door in the morning after a 30 minute queue. But our entrance time was 3pm in the afternoon as there is a quota on the number of visitors per time slot.

A fine collection of his artworks from early days till he passed on. The audio guide was such a useful complement to the entire experience. There is also a bookshop selling all types of books on Van Gogh as well as stationeries.
