“Go early”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2014

We went early, took a tram from across the hotel and was there within 5 minutes. Practically had the museum to ourselves.

“Interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2014

There are two parts to the museum, Van Gogh's works, and work of a gentleman I hadn't heard of before. Van Gogh's painting are lovely and its interesting to learn about how he was taught and the phases he went through. However, his most famous works are not here, so don't be fooled by the adverts. The Sunflowers are absent, for example. Also, the other artist's work is very very strange. Interesting, but perhaps not worth 15 euros.

“Great Musuem- Highly Recommend”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014

Really enjoyed our visit here and spent a good 3 hours. Top tip is to book your tickets online at least a week before you travel & avoid the very long queues-you can just walk straight in by a separate entrance.
Well laid out with lots of plaques and info giving detailed descriptions-we did not need the audio guide. The videos showing how lost paintings were discovered were fascinating as were the displays detailing personal information re his life.
Good value for money.

“A great museum to introduce Van Gogh”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014 via mobile

I'm not an art expert by any means, and I thoroughly enjoyed an evening visit to this museum (yes, it's open in the evenings!). I really liked how the 1st floor was laid out to clearly introduce the different themes in his life, whilst the floor above looked at some of his pictures by theme. The sunflowers weren't there when I visited but there were plenty of others - I lived the "Almond blossom", and also one that I think was called 'View over Paris". You can easily get to this museum by public transport, by taking tram 5 which goes from centraal station through the city centre.

“Fantastic paintings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014

Great museum. Clear lighting, the paintings were fantastic. They take your breath away. A must visit. The gift shop is expensive and you can get the same things down the little shops in the area.
