“Worth it, even if you're not the artsy type.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

I am not really into arts. I mean, of course I like it, but I don't understand about it, I don't know the names and the jargon. I look at stuff and if it feels good to look at it, then it's good. That's how I operate, very simple.

This museum is awesome.

I stayed in there for 5 hours. And it was worth it since I did not pay anything at the booth, since I had my amsterdam city pass, which turned out to be a great choice.

If you're narrowing down your museum choices, look a bit more about this one because it might be eligible for that top list.

“Technically suberb”

We are al familiar with the paintings but this museum takes you behind the scenes to look at techniques he used and how paintings are analysed. His life is well documented

“A Different View of Van Gogh”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

Seeing how Van Gogh created his paintings; from preliminary sketches to letters discussing color and composition was very unique. Be sure to go at opening time to avoid the long lines.

“One of the "must sees"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

Located in modern building, not too far away from the strict centre, very cloce to Rijksmuseum, so if you've got a day to spare in Amsterdam - go!! 4 floors of original paintings of the master, his predecessors, who influenced him (e.g.: Monet, Manet) and his friends (e.g.: Gauguin). Beautiful exhibition - takes about 3-4 hours (for a non visual arts connoisseur) and if you have not enough - Rijksmuseum full of Vermeers and Rembrandts - 3 minutes walking distance! Highly recommend!

“Great Exhibit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

The van gogh museum was a very interesting and laid out so nicely. My husband can often get bored or distracted in art museums but this one definitely kept his interest and of course mine. It is well organized and clearly follows the life of van gogh. There is an introductory flim on the lower level which gives a decent background and there are a lot of hands on exhibits where you can touch and feel what his paint stroke was like. A site definitely not to miss on your trip in Amsterdam!
