We hear so much about van Gogh. A visit to the van Gogh while in Amsterdam is a must. Little else to say really. The art works are fantastic and nicely spaced out within the museum so there is plenty of room to see them without straining. The building is modern light and very comfortable. For a bit of fun there is a "selfie wall" (see my attached photo!)
When you need to take a refreshment break there is a lovely restaurant which is reasonably priced and offers quick snacks hot and cold drinks and if required hot food. The location is nicely set in the park and close to other great attractions within the museum quarter. Easy to find. Allow a few hours to take in all the artwork and exhibits. A marvellous experience.

The first thing you notice as you approach this lovely museum is the modern architecture, its glassy and metal exterior swirling and shimmering in the soft autumn light of Amsterdam. Inside it a great collection of the talented and tragic Dutch artist, who spent more time in France than in his native land, especially in the south of France. Here the visitor learns about his early influences, and of course one can view dozens of his best work executed in Arles and environs in the south of France. Van Gogh's relatively short life was lived intensely and brilliantly. In the museum there's a small cafe serving excellent coffee and healthy snacks. Don't miss this museum when next in Amsterdam.

This is a great museum that clearly takes you through the different parts of Van Gogh’s life. Particularly fascinating were the sections showing works of other artists that inspired Van Gogh and the section on his letters to his brother and cheerleader Theo. While someone Van Gogh’s major works are of course housed in other great museums in the world, the vast number of works here make it worth the visit.

I definetly reccomed this museum because it was wonderful, a trip into the mind and the story of Van Gogh and other similiar artist. You should buy an extra audoguide because it worth the cost and you can live the full experience. It was not to crowded, the staff were kind, and you can always find the right path... If you love Van Gogh operas, you must visit it.

If we have to pay 18 euros for this museum how much we have to pay for monuments like Acropolis in Athens Greece?
The security of the museum, is better to help the visitors than to create them additional problems.
Advise for the visitors : Don't take with you valuable things in your bag because you have to trust your bag in a simple open wardrobe and no one can guarantee for your bag.

One of my favorite museums. Its a great balance of background and art. I felt the flow moved well. The pictures were amazing, of course.

There is little to match this museum. It holds the world's best Van Gogh collection, and other notables besides. Well worth a visit

I got a ticket for 9 am when it opened ,,, whilst the exhibition runs from ground floor up to third, I went to the top first and worked back down, this meant for tow le Lea there were very few people and as I moved down everyone else was going up!

I had the audio tour .. normally I don’t like them but this was very good, interesting and not too ‘dense’. Everything though is about the paintings and sketches. To see them in ‘real life’ is so much better than in photos. Sunflowers sparkles, the thickness of the paints on Irises, the detail in the Potato eaters. The self portraits are numerous and fascinating. The building is built specially for them and the arrangements are excellent.

The Van Gogh Dreams installation was fascinating and good fun.

Highly recommend this as a MUST to visit.

Wonderful museum that displays many art pieces and lets you dive deeply into Van Gogh's world and mind. Only complaint is that it got too crowded. Their timed reservation system does sufficiently take into account the fact that most people take longer to explore the museum than their system predicts. Still, we think this is a "Don't Miss" part of visiting Amsterdam.
