This a well spent hour. The cheese and wine pairings are great, the place is nicely set up downstairs from the shop, and the guide knowledgable and fun. If you haven't tried the Reypenaer brand or their newer Wyngaard cheeses, you should do this. If you have tried them, then get to know something more while sipping nice wine and eating that great tasting cheese! Get a little discount on their nice cheese and tools, too.

Great little find. In the basement of a cheese shop, tasting 6 different cheeses with wine and port. Great English speaking talk who was very engaging and wanted to have questions asked. No holding back with the quantity of wine and cheese, if you wanted to buy some they gave a discount to. We did the boat cruise with it as well which made for a great value trip. Must visit if you love cheese!!!

We were looking for something different to do after having spent the morning visiting the Van Gogh Museum. I don't recall how we found Reypenaer, but we figured a cheese (with wine!) tasting would be a "can't miss" hour. Situated on an active corner on the Singel canal, the Reypenaer store is a cozy place with sales upstairs and the tastings done a floor below down the traditionally steep and narrow stairs of the historic buildings of Amsterdam.

The class was a great deal of fun, and our "instructor", Lieke, was great and a good sport handling the class with poise and good humor. She taught us how to consider different cheeses in much the same way we consider different wines.

The tasting consisted of 6 different cheeses paired with two wines (one white, one red) and a port. The biggest surprise for us was that my wife, not a goat chese fan, liked both of the goat cheeses; the smooth and creamy 4-month as well as the slightly harder 10-month aged cheese. Best of all, we learned something about cheese making in the process.

If you're in Amsterdam, like cheese (and wine), and are looking for something to occupy an hour or so of your time, take this class and have fun.

This tasting was recommended to us by Benjamin of "That Dam Guide" and we were delighted. Very informative and professionally done cheese tasting and wine pairings. The store staff is very friendly and helpful. Good place for take home gifts and a "certificate" suitable for framing with 15% off purchases. Wonderful cheese that I now know more about.
