We attended the cheese and wine tasting on the advice of a neighbor who had just been to Amsterdam. It was very educational to learn about the different cheeses and actually taste how different aging of the same cheese leads to very different tastes. Also, it was amazing how different wines either highlighted or dampened the taste of a single cheese. A must for anyone who wants to learn more from the experts.

Pleasant atmosphere, amazing cheeses and friendly people. The Reypenaar cheeses are the best you can find and I am glad to know more about how the different cheeses are made.

If you are a cheese and wine lover, this is a 'must do' while visiting Amsterdam. The class was well-instructed by someone who absolutely knows Dutch cheese and was quite interesting and informative. The quality of the cheeses served and wines paired with them was superb. Each table has it's own selection of six cheeses, 2 goat and 4 cow varieties/ages, all of excellent taste and texture and you can nibble away on them to your heart's content. White, Red and Port wines are served to bring out the best flavors of each. Amsterdam is a city that can sort of 'eat' your money but the 15 Euro price per person is well spent here. It's an easy walk from Centraal Station and not far from the Anne Frank House.

We booked this after seeing a review in the Daily Telegraph and have been looking forward to it for months...we were not disappointed! Our host/teacher, Daphne, made the session fun and informative and we learned more about cheese than we thought we knew. Of Amsterdam's attractions this has to rate among the best, buy your tickets online before you go and you will not be disappointed .

This was our first trip to Amsterdam, and for a city that is known for cheese (as well as lots of naughty other things) we thought we'd have a go at cheese tasting.
If you dont know where you're going, you may get lost. We couldn't find it, but mainly because we thought that the town hall was the central station, so we got very confused! We asked someone in a local clothes shop, who informed us that the address wasn't in amsterdam! Luckily we ignored her. It is about 5 minutes from the anne frank museum, maybe a little bit more.
Eventually we found it, and were given our "cheese gift" which was a slice of one of their cheeses, I think it was approximately €12, but cost us €5 more. I would recommend booking in advance, as our sitting was fully booked. There were even more people who joined, and crammed on to one table.
The lady who presented the tasting reminded me of Frau from Austin Powers (the mother of his son). She had the potential to be a bit shouty. But she was a very smiley and friendly woman, who was quite funny.
The session lasts just over an hour, and you have 6 cheeses to taste. You have to write down what you can smell and taste and then it is discussed by the group. You are also given a glass of red, white and port to see the effect of the cheese. This went down a treat :)
Both my partner and myself thoroughly enjoyed the tasting, and even bought a few blocks back home to give our friends/family a similar experience.
It is educational, fun and tasty, so I would recommend that you all experience it
