“" Sale " Still ON !”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Ever since we have been visiting Amsterdam we have always loved this shopping street :)
Go around 10am and you would think it is closed ! go in another hour or so and you feel like all Amsterdam`s citizens have descended upon it ! LOL
One shop , touristy trinkets , magnets etc .. has had a "Sale" on for over 20 years ! :)
Good place to get a cheap eat is the Hema store café on the 1st floor !
And watch your Purse/Wallet while on the street !

“Shopaholic's lane”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

Best location, walked around from the start of Kalverstraat to the Dam Square and Nieuwendijk. It was so busy with tourist everywhere, great sales, quirky shops and side streets had many of the cafe's Amsterdam is famous for. I loved the atmosphere Kalverstraat has so if you are a shopaholic this place is the perfect place to visit, If you are not into big crowds - definitely avoid.

“Typical crowded high street”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

No need to go here if you visit Amsterdam, only to get to the Begijnhof, a really nice and quiet old place with old houses.

“Kalverstraat: Easy walk fr Dam Square to Muntplein/Flowermarkt.”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

The great thing about Kalverstraat is its location. It's situated in the centre of Amsterdam - running along Rokinstraat, stretching from Dam Square to Muntplein (square). Little streets veer off to the side taking you to other nearby popular spots such as Spui, the Flower Market and Leidseplein. Kalverstraat is strictly a walking street, so no bikes or vehicles! It is a popular shopping district and I find that it to be always crowded, unless it is later in the day when shops have closed. Majority of the shops are brand name - some even duplicated along the way. There are always sales galore. My favourite shop attraction is 'De Slegte', a huge book store selling both new and old! For fun there is a specialty shop called '2theloo' - a store with pay-to-use washroom facilities (pricey, but bright, clean and with different wall mural themes) plus a variety of novelty toiletry souveniers!

“Dutch street of all Dutch streets!”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

This is the most legendary and popular shopping street in the Netherlands (also due to the Monopoly game), the name is derived from the trade in cows and calves, from 1393. It hosts a wide range of shops, from shoes, herbs, cheese, books and jewelry to food, perfume and of course hamburgers and warehouses. Many of these shops are trendy and top notch, in fact an incredible amount of shops in one street, situated between the Dam Square and the Mint Square. You can also find the Amsterdam Historical Museum and the Kalverstraat is a perfect starting point to discover the center of Amsterdam (Amstel river, Madame Tussauds, the Sex Museum, Beurs Of Berlage, etc), check out and enjoy the great, multi-cultural atmosphere!
