A difficult review to write, as I was severely disappointed on arrival, but very pleased on departure.

Upon arrival (9pm at night) the receptionist confirmed they were putting us in a luxury room which is what we had booked, however, when we got to the room, it was only a superior room. I knew this as I had printed the different rooms types off the hotel's website before our trip (in the luxury room you get a bath, in the superior you do not). I don't like being treated like this - in effect, they knowingly misled us. However, once they were honest and acknowledged they did not have any luxury rooms left they politely requested we stay in the superior room for one night and then they would upgrade us to a suite in the morning. This they did - and what a suite it was - private balcony and lovely furniture for sitting outside - absolutely made our stay. We received half a bottle of champagne as it was my birthday and also a lovely bottle of wine to make up for the inconvenience of having to move rooms (both gratefully received). All staff were polite and very courteous. However, in respect of breakfast - staff appeared to be in chaos. Every day we were seated and then after about a 5-10 minute wait, we had to ask for coffee/tea. A little confusing really as they had plenty of staff on (all courteous and very polite) however it just felt disorganised.
Overall, the hotel accommodation and facilities were fantastic, the staff exceptionally helpful and knowledgable, the only disappointing part was our arrival when we were misled over our room type - not what I would expect of a 5* hotel.

Room Tip: Suite 432 - fantastic!

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed visiting Amsterdam. The hotel is within walking distance of all the interesting sights. The rooms are very modern, quiet and have all the usual luxury amenities. The included breakfast is excellent and the service is attentive. No hesitation to recommand srongly.

It is situated in the heart of Amsterdam. All the shopping streets as well as the attractions are at walking distance. The service of the hotel is awesome. It is a 300 year (approx) old property for which they even have a guided tour which starts at 11 in the morning. The rooms are quite morden and very tastefully done.

Although only a single night (with a welcome extended check out time) the Hotel really did impress me 100%. Staff were extremely helpful without being in your face and the level of the room was amazing. First class hotel by far and in one of the most central of locations to explore Amsterdam .....

We just stayed there for a night and we really regreted that we couldn't stay longer.

The location, the service, quality of the hotel, etc... Everything was really nice.

We surely will go back there wherever we have chance to get to Amsterdam.
