You must visit the Concertgebouw. The acoustics are the best in the world. Just go if you are planning to stay in Amsterdam!

I attended a concert, hosted by one of the sponsors, by the Dutch chamber orchestra with some visiting soloists. The music was Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Schubert and Beethoven. This is a lovely venue. As you would expect, it combines outstanding execution with a sense of reality and informality - unlike in London, people are there for the music rather than to be seen. The acoustics in the hall, which is of course a work of art itself, are superb and the small nature of the venue makes it a very personal experience. I was at a catered event, which was extremely well executed before, during and after the concert. The whole evening was a delight.

I have always enjoyed classical music but have never experienced the balance and tonality of this venue - in my opinion... the best in the world for pure classical listening pleasure.
