“Most lively place in Amsterdam”
Reviewed December 16, 2013

This square in Amsterdam is a place to be. Lot of people at one place. Hustle bustle of traffic, trams and jugglers perfoming in front of Queen's palace. Surrounded by all kinds of eating places, bars and tourist attractions. At two minutes of walking distance the red light district is located where almost all the tourists would like to have a glimpse or do window shopping. It is a place you can get an idea of dutch culture. Off course you can see a lot of bikes parked in here on the pavements. We loved the place.

“Good location”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

Dam Square is useful as being a focal point for several major routes around Amsterdam given the roads leading into it. This means that it's always busy, without feeling too crowded. There are usually street performers trying to earn some pennies, or people discreetly selling bird feed for a photo opportunity, but these can be avoided to just enjoy a nice stroll or a quiet sit down with a magnificently grand setting.

“So Amsterdamish!”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

This is typically Amsterdamish. If that is a word. You can just sit on one of the benches, if you are lucky and there is one free. Take a coffee from the Coffeecompany (a concurrent of Starbucks, bit cheaper and as nice as) and sit there, or stroll around, watch people. There is pigeons to feed, there is the sight on the NewChurch and the ever crowded Madame Tussauds.

“Dam square with the royal palace and the Krasnapolsky hotel”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

always crowded historical square in Amsterdam, a short walk from Amsterdam Centraal railways station. You equally have Madame Tussaud's exhibition with its chamber of horrors!
Sometimes there are impromptu concerts on this square.
