Nice cafés, interesting places to see and go to the National Monument if you are interested in the free walking tour.

We always visit the Dam Square when in Amsterdam, as almost always they have someting going on. If not it is great for people watching and close to the main shopping area. There is a lot of history here and around the area. Just to stroll up and down the shopping streets in entertainment for an afternoon. You haven't seen Amsterdam if you haven't seen Dam Square. It is the busy city center with all the traffic and pedestrian movements. A centrall hub where you can branch out and walk.

I always visit Dam Square when I'm in Amsterdam as there always seems to be some event happening there. The square has a lot of history to it and is usually full of people plus it's close to the shopping districts.

Had good fun here with the cheeky pigeons.. they do take food from you if they see it. the square itself was used as a location finder if i got lost in the dam, there was an amusement park/rides opposite the square when i was there which was fun.

Massive square with magicians, musicians, tourists and locals. A must see. Be sure to bring snacks for the pigeons who will sit on your arm, heads, or anywhere else you offer.
