“A Must See in Amsterdam”

The National Museum is a must see in Amsterdam. Go early as it is crowded in the afternoon. It gives you an excellent sense of history.

“Wow”

So many great works to see. You could spend an entire day here if you wanted to. A must do for lovers of Dutch art. There is also a nice little cafe on site for a snack or light lunch.

“Not a huge museum person, but loved this one”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

I visited the museum with my husband and got the audio guide and the 10 Euro print copy guide, and had the most interesting time. Getting the back story on the art made so much difference in understanding and appreciating what we were seeing. This was a wonderful way to spend a few hours in Amsterdam and I'd suggest it to anyone. Be sure and get the audioguide! :)

“Really is a "Must See"”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

Typically, due to time constraints, I don't care to visit such large museums but the Rijks shattered that practice. The place is huge and amazing but if you want to do the "cliff notes" version, pick up the museum map, select your faves by gallery location than ask a museum guard to direct you. Really saves time. Before leaving definitely check out the Hall of Honor on the 2nd floor. At the end of the hall there is a gallery with old masters paintings the size of road-side billboards. Must see the "old masters" staring down at the museum visitors and vice-versa - impressive AND amusing to see the interaction. Brilliant example of art display. Check with your hotel to see if you can get discount tics to the museum along with a Blue Boat Company canal tour.
You could be spend a week but definitely go for a couple of hours.

“Top 5 in the museum world”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

Simply amazing: some great art, breezy and accessible, lots of space to walk even with people around. Very busy since it re-opened but frankly, lots of walking and seating space for everybody. Download the app first: wifi is free, and you will avoid paying for the audio-guide (just slightly more complete)
